Ethernet Wiring Advice

I have an ethernet wall socket in my sitting room and in the room I keep my PC in. Both sockets are connected together in the T568B arrangement (done by me). My router is in the living room. Naturally I want to connect my router to my PC through these ethernet wall sockets but so far I'm getting nothing.

Here's a breakdown of the setup:

Router <-> patch cable <-> wall socket <-> wall cable <-> wall socket <-> patch cable <-> PC

I've tested the wires using a multimeter and they are all getting though so I figured the problem might be to do with my wiring setup. Do I have to do something special seen as I'm going "wall socket to wall socket"? (e.g. use a cross over cable or mirrored setup or something?)

Any help would be really appreciated!

Are the two sockets a recent installation or have they been in use ever?

The 'B' configuration straight through is correct for what you want.

Everything should work fine if all the connections are done correctly. Just because you have continuity on each wire strand of the twisted pairs doesn't necessarily mean that you have them correctly matched to the colour coded pins on the jacks in the sockets, have you checked that? Have you also verified the patch leads? Finally, check all the little wire pins in the socket jacks, make sure none of them have moved out of their little notch.

Did you use a punch down tool to make the jack connections?

my guess is you have your colors wrong also look at plug

Thanks for the responses guys.

After pulling out a good chunk of my hair I finally tested the two patch cables - turns out one of them was a dud. I just assumed it worked as I only bought it a few days ago.

Lesson's learned!

I'll definitely pick up a cable tested considering they are so cheap.
