Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Because you may need to sell it in a future?

Not sure how many buyers would be willing to have that lay-out.....

I'd rather live in the house I wanted to live in than try and suit someone else 30 years down the road.

So you think he should have limited their day to day living area to accommodate storing items they no longer want or need?

Why would anyone store unwanted junk??

Can claim the Vat back now as well over three years with the home renovation scheme.

Only up to 40k or something. That's the total cost not the bat you claim back

    I would retire if I had a million eur today! :-) :-)

For someone who lived in that house, did you actually agree with work done to the attic? I mean, what was the cost of that work alone, 50k?

Where are they going to store bulky stuff?
Mum is that you? I told you before about hoard fun stuff..
Other than my mum, Who stores bulky stuff? Why give up good living space , so you can keep an old couch you'll never ever use again.

There's a shed in the garden.

There is a 2 thirds rule, if labor accounts for more than 2 thirds of the material costs you can charge the lower VAT rate (dont quote me on that but I think thats how it works).

Never knew that. I thought 23% vat applied to materials and 13.5% to labour. Its unlikely that labour would reach 2/3 the cost of materials. ? I've built a few houses and the builders always told me they get no discount from the builders providers. Next time round I'd like to shop around for materials.

Almost time :) . Should we take bets? Will there be steps down to the living room area? Will there be a windowed cube added to the back of the house? Will grey be the only wall coulour appart from white? Will there be a courtyard added in the middle of the house? (Strangely Dermot Bannon doesn't seem to like those this year while he loved them before). Will the kitchen be moved to the centre of the house? Will Dermot mention bringing the outside in?

    Dermot..."no extension"

That's no glass box out the back dermot. Not needed on a 150 year old house.
