Room to Improve.

Is the surveyer any way liable or will insurance cover anything.

Last old building I went and looked at the surveyer was crawling around the attic with me, surely if the surveyer was thorough he would have seen the warning signs in the roof, also the smell my first guess would be from clay floors as I've seen it before.

Whether they pay for him or not it seems he is hard to get a hold of throughout the build (times when off camera) from what we have seen in the program sometimes.

Depends on what type of a survey they went for. Not sure about you guys but in the north there is a sliding scale of survey types that can be got for a purchase.

They may have opted for a cheap one which would not have covered this to the level required for a surveyor to stand over this problem.

I assume they are getting Dermot and most likely Patricia for free.

So essentially Dermot is an interior designer in this episode.


It will be fabulous in the end for the couple. If it's any consolation.

Only then does Dermot actually start to look properly at the building, it's construction and the real issues facing it. Thus finding the true cost of the renovation.

Oh for Gods sake ...this is ALSO a TV programme! Every week there is a drama and a hidden issue. This is major I agree.... but it's also good TV viewing so stop slagging off Dermot every week ! You don't know what part the production team play in all this . Just chill and enjoy it .

Ive heard of someone who was meant to be in this series, but after a few weeks of filming, they found Dermot very pushy and forcing ideas on them and they quit. I also heard that they were expected to pay for his services too whereas I was always under the impression he was free (I'm open to correction on this)

They get Dermot's service for free and there are no other perks according to what the client from this season's first show said on the Darcy show.
