Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No sign of the electronic gates and 2 berth driveway.

Finally. A proper episode. This is realistic and while she has come across as someone that hasn't been rooted in reality in terms of costs, moat people don't have an appreciation of costs.

And she has her ideas of how she wants it to look.

A damn sight better than last week's seafóid.

He seems to be making a number of sly changes in this build, it's like because she's a single woman he can get away it, rather than dealing with a couple

Yes in a lot of cases they will be served by a backyard sewer. When you are planning to build over that sewer the engineer should have confirmed the depth so as to at least confirm foundation depths etc.

Usually there will be a manhole in a neighbouring property that will give you an idea of depth. I think the engineer should have picked it up.

No, because you can't determine foundation depth until you dig the foundation trenches and can establish the ground condition. A typical depth is given for design until the actual depth can be determined on site. If there are pipes, the foundations are normally stepped under the pipes and the walls then bridged over the pipes.

And during design, you can't go into a neighbours garden to take levels of the drainage. Again, you wait until the works commence and then you have to work with what you have.

I'd say the producers frame the show to produce as much drama as possible.

That's exactly what they do. Watching a show about a straight up renovation doesn't make for interesting tv.

But of a rubbish episode with two people bickering. If I wanted that I'd just pick a fight with the wife.

She came across as a bit of a pain but I think there is more steel and tactic to her than the edit showed. She got far more of her initial spec than anyone would have thought at the start.

I think she is far nicer and more normal than the client last week or Daniel and Majella the week before.

But that’s what interesting about it. Otherwise it would be just a grand design clone.

Is that 2 weeks in a row the final budget cost wasn't mentioned??

  • Registered Users Posts: 294 ✭✭hollymartins
