Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1000 on asbestos.
surely that should be copped at the start and included in the spec and pricing

A good builder/engineer would spot it especially at a pre purchase survey. Maybe they didn’t do one or don’t have a good people involved.

Bonkers house alright, built by a Celtic Tiger developer as his own home. And I was wrong that it's 6000sqft, saw a paper article saying it's actually 8200! Went for 840k according to the register.

What was the point in sandblasting at all when the new brick was matching the weathered old brick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,368 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Why didn't they salvage the original bricks on the demolished part of the house?

Was going to say the same..A bit pushy and I definitely would not be letting him pressuring me into making a decision they might regret.

He’s going to blow the contingency and loads more on red brick.... would they not be as well off to think of finished plaster in white as a contrast ... I’m drinking wine and pretend shopping on Boden Aldo so if they was insane don’t lol at me

I'd give that builder his marching orders, he just wants to throw up the house as fast as possible. Fecking prick.

The windows don't go with the old style at all, what was the point of all the hassle over the brickwork if you were going to change the look of the house by putting in black windows.

He's not doing himself any favours with his approach with the clients. Who would want to give him €150K to be treated like this.
I had bad feelings about him when he was confident be would complete in 8 weeks. Sounded like he was in for a quick buck.
