Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hiya guys.

That house looks like a complete tip at the minute. I didn't realise the building was condemned!

What a utter disaster for this lovely couple. I'm hope spending an extra €28k will be worth it in the end.

What do they work as??? A mortgage of that size (260 to buy, plus 200+ to build) on today's interest rates would be a pretty sizeable payment every month.

Would the lending institution or surveyors not be accountable for their part in this

Yes I always thought a survey would be needed, perhaps they had the full cash price on them with no need for a mortgage :D

They really didn't have an engineer checking the house before they bought. They learned a costly lesson.

These are lovely people. I really hope it works out so well for them

Stonehenge would have greater building potential.

    Maybe...

Cash up front to buy and then a mortgage for the build?

It must have been something like that, I really can't see a surveyor passing that for mortgage approval. I hope it works out for them, they seem so genuine.

Guys, as usual no comments of a "personal" nature about the people who are taking part in this program.

    Thank you

Cannot believe they paid €260k for THAT!!! Sure they could have bought our 4 bed detached and next door as well and had change!! Did they not get a surveyor engineer when they were looking to buy the wreck?!

I predict they both* may have grey hair by the end.

Agree it should be a lesson to everyone.

*Although fair play to them they seem to be trying to keep perspective, and focus on their baby/the important things in life

And we all the fixes they need to do, I wonder how the house will age. That will be one of the houses I would like to see in 5 years time.

The new layout of the home is making a bigger difference in the light coming into the place.

Yes normally the houses look tiny at this stage, these rooms look huge.

I wonder do Munster joinery give a good discount in the knowledge that their products will be on prime time tv? I imagine the buyer will let them know
