Really looking forward to what will be a really special marathon.
The people of Boston really embrace their marathon and in my experience the day really embodies all that is great about running. Time for me this year is not an issue really given injuries, wave allocation etc..
However, given the events of last year it will be obviously be a particularly special and emotional occasion.

    As President Obama said at last years memorial service on April 18th;

And this time next year, on the third Monday in April, the world will return to this great American city to run harder than ever, and to cheer even louder, for the 118th Boston Marathon. Bet on it.

As the yanks would say............. Bring It On!

The Boston Marathon will be streamed live online for free at http://watchlive.baa.org/ starting at 14:30

It will, but unfortunately for us folks in Ireland:
You can only watch this live event stream from the following countries: United States, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

Anyone have a another idea? I have a funny feeling I'll be firing up the VPN tomorrow...

This only works on a US VPN service. You can sign up for a free trial with many for 24 hours. Basically you want to get a service that you can watch hulu outside the US. Google is your friend. This was the case last year. Also there is http://www.wiziwig.tv/index.php?part=sports but there will be a lot watching on that. Best bet is a US VPN. I used that last year and it worked a treat.

met wideball, meno and Dory Dory at the pasta party earlier. all in good shape.

Meno you were on about an immediate post-race pub. Clery's in Dartmouth Street is a good one - scene of previous Boards recovery the year of the big burnup...

How about we head there after the finish?

    Download firefox
    Install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hola/?src=search
    Go to http://universalsports.com/video/2014-squash-el-gouna-international-elshorbagy-wins/
Select the fire icon on the top right and select US flag
    Play the page
Open http://universalsports.com/video/2014-squash-el-gouna-international-elshorbagy-wins/ in another browser as in not Firefox and verify that you can't play it as it knows where you actually are.
The boston marathon page is just a frame of universal sports (however you can play the preview )

Then use the link http://universalsports.com/marathon/boston-marathon/ to watch it when it comes on. I presume it will work as they will use the same region lock for highlights and live events.

I think the Universal link is US National only like a few others.

Here is another link no download or VPN required:

Not sure how much of a wise move that is! Time will tell I guess!

After heating up there big time since the start. Looks warm out there now.

Good coverage on the BAA website.

Looks like it will be like Ana Dulce Felix from last year.

I believe his pb is around 2.58. Fingers crossed for him.

2:25:38 is her PB. No way she going to knock 5 mins off her PB. pure madness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,304 ✭✭✭viperlogic

Media have been bigging her up all week. As good as the training has gone, 5 mins is a bit of a jump!

She's doing all the hard work at the moment, the rest are all just sitting behind and letting her do it. Will take it's toll later in the race.
