2:25:38 is her PB. No way she going to knock 5 mins off her PB. pure madness.

Remember that the first half of Boston is much faster a heavy decline in the first 5 miles. Not as mad as it might seem. She will slow without a doubt I wouldn't be too alarmed with people seeing quicker paces earlier on.

As long as the quads didn't take too much of a beating on the downhills should be relatively ok

    purceninho:

    5K: 20:11
    10K: 20:10

    Killerz:

    5K: 22:44
    10K: 22:35

    Meno:

    5K: 23:24
    10K: 23:25

Looks like a tourist marathon for meno. 7 days was likely too soon to have another craic, mentally if not physically.

Shalane Flanagan (USA) leads women at 15K mark (49.05) almost a full minute ahead of the course record.

She dropped off the pace? If so, strategy was very questionable.

Kentucky Pete 1.27.34 at Half. Looking good still.

Ouch looks like Ryan Hall got hit by a sledge hammer. Last 5k was his slowest by nearly 20 sec per mile

Mens race doesnt make sense if their is going to a be course record in the womens race. Can't see Meb losing it now.

    HALF

    purceninho: 1:27:25
    Killerz: 1:35:21
    Meno: 1:40:30

All slowed in the last 5K

Some run by Jeptoo. Jasis the undulation would take some amount out of the quads!

He's starting to struggle now and gap is closing, should be a good finish!

Some emotion there from Meb on the podium.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,016 ✭✭✭Itziger

My buddy KP is starting to hurt I think. Hope he can keep it together now.

Ryan Hall ran 2.17 on his comeback, feel bad for the guy.

savage stuff by Meb. Nearly 39, runs rubbish in NYC. Boston wouldn't give him a contract to run a few years ago. Around the same time Nike drop him. Then today he runs a PB, first time under 2.09 to win. First US winner in over 30 years. Fairytale stuff. At 40K I had dead and buried. Thought he would be third.

Standard in womens race was unreal!

    30K

    purceninho: 2:10:17 - Proj: 3:03
    Killerz: 2:17:53 - Proj: 3:13
    Meno: 2:27:50 - Proj: 3:27

Looking to be a grind out there now...Keep it together lads!

Definitely the top US marathoner of the last 10 years anyway. There is loads of hype around the likes of Ritz and Hall but Meb has two top 4 Olympic marathons and first US Boston winner in 30 years.

Definitely a guy who needs to get more recognition (Sketchers all the way :D)
