Well check out all of this yourself, for secondary teaching you can do a PLC and try to get into an arts course after that and then the postgrad course or madters or whatever it is to get the teaching degree. Same with primary teaching but you need to have HL Irish for primary teaching, it's an actual requirement that you have a HL C in your LC to teach primary, and it's a H. Dip you get after the arts course (I know this from my cousin who did a PLC to get into arts in NUIG, and another cousin just went to do arts in NUIG and is now a primary school teacher)

Also for example if you didn't want the Arts route, if you wanted to become a Science or Business teacher etc., you could study a science/business related PLC, advance onto 3rd Level then, provided you get the number of distinctions needed.
But not all courses are recognised by the Teaching Council, so jut be careful and check out the list of courses that are recognised.

    :)

Hi howsshecuttin, you can contact the arts faculty in NUIG for a full list of PLCs they accept as entry requirement

You can get up to 400 CAO points from a PLC course

    On top of that -
    Higher Education Links Scheme
The Higher Education Links Scheme facilitates progression to a variety of higher education courses via specific FETAC level 5 and level 6 Advanced Certificates. Under this scheme a number of places are reserved by Higher Education Institutions for FETAC applicants for entry to a range of 3rd level courses.

My friend's older brother is a principal in a Primary School. He did childcare in Galway and went on to study early childhood studies and then a postgrad in Hibernia and a masters in Leadership. Raves about PLC as a way to get in. Always worth thinking about.
