I want to test the signal for a Three signal but my phone (which uses the Vodafone network and ,I imagine may be locked to it ) won't allow me to select Hutchison (=Three) .

Am I going to have to unlock my phone in order to test the (3g) signal ?
Can I go back to Vodafone after I have done that?
Will I lose my credit unless I use the sim card up completely first?

I actually own 2 phones one of which was bought as "unlocked" .

Can I assume that it too is now locked to Vodafone since I got Vodafone to give me a sim card for it after I bought it?

    Thanks for any help.

Putting a sim into a phone wont lock it.

Make sure whatever phone you use can handle a 3g signal. Otherwise a Three sim won't work in it , even if it is unlocked. If you are unsure, have a look at your phone model at www.gsmarena.com.
