Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    reportedly considering

    Sky News

They are all taking it from the original Telegraph report.

Still, the club will have to confirm or deny tomorrow; before the NYSE opens . . .

I think moyes would be a great appointment. Relative to each clubs respective budget, I don't think anyone have outperformed Everton consistently over the last number of years. He's also improved in his transfer dealings. For someone as notoriously cautious as him, signing the likes of fellaini was a massive gamble at that money. Anyone can identify the likes of aguero, hazard etc as excellent potential signings, doing so with the likes of fellaini, miralles etc is a far more difficult ask, and he's done it time and time again. Lesscott, baines, jagielka, arteta etc. players who's potential was realised, and value soared under moyes

However, I can't see fergie going just yet. United are over the worst of the financial burden placed on them by the glaziers, and should have far more to spend over the next year or two. I can't see fergie giving up the opportunity to build one last great side

    Press conference announced or anything?

    Manuel Pellegrini
Maybe it's a leave of absence while he recovers from surgery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,403 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Seems like a nothing story for the moment. My guess is that, when the time comes, there won't be hours / days waiting for a press conference, etc. It will be a simple direct statement from Ferguson himself out of the blue.

He arrived in Carrington as normal this morning at 07.00 according to the BBC website.

I really hope he goes. United fans will know what it's like to support a normal team who changes managers after barren periods

How weird will the United dugout look with someone else there? I doubt there's many on boards that remember anyone else as united manager.

Hasn't his most recent indications been that he'll stay on indefinitely? I understand he needs surgery but the summer starts in two weeks. The rumours about Moyes joining as an understudy sound good to me, blend him in and adopt the Barcelona ethos to a certain extent.

Cripes, I'm feeling old. I remember the hoohah when Tommy Doc was caught banging the physio's missus (allegedly). Sky Sports would have loved that one.

My first United memory is the 1983 Milk Cup Final, have some hazy memories of the previous seasons FA Cup Final.

Moyes has never won at united, city, Chelsea or Liverpool in the league in 10 years and people think he will get the united job? Madness.

    2008/09 Won 1-0 @ City
    2009/2010- Won 2-0 @ City
    2010/2011- Won 2-1 @ City

    Epic Fail with that stat

Well this is something else to wake up to - was out last night, and never got a whiff of it!!
Most likely story imo is to do with recovery period after the hip surgery. Hopefully. :)

I was 9 when he took over, so i just about remember Atkinson, with his tan and his gold. But for the majority, probably elsewhere, as well as on here, it's gonna be a change they've never seen. And with the amount of time Fergie is there, it's gonna be a huge step into the unknown for even the older fans. Over 25 years in any job is something else, but in football management, it's unheard of!

What time is the press conference scheduled? Has to be before 2pm (9am in Eastern US), I presume???

Wow, there are people over 30 who have this interweb thingy and can post on boards you know.

I myself remember Doherty, Sexton and Atkinson.

Also, remember how close Fergie came to getting the sack before his FA Cup win.

That stat is a fail as he messed up one team. I read that stat few weeks back that Moyes didn't win a single away game against Top 4 teams. By top 4 they meant ManUtd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

a nice notion to wake up to.

it's not happening yet though IMO.

the fact that Moyes has been touted as the replacement makes me even more skeptical.

that is not going to happen. no pedigree in Europe and no trophies taking over Manchester United after Ferguson?

    i don't buy that for a second.

Wouldn't say it's strange timing at all. Few days before his last ever home game.
