I don't know if it's covered (probably not) but I'd highly recommend Black Mesa for a replay of the original Half Life. They upgraded the graphics, physics and audio of the game to a modern standard.

The last time I played Half Life was on a Gateway machine. So many fps

So seems the only way to actually get free Steam games is to download them on your gaming machine and then cancel the download once it starts.

Just checked this myself and its doing the same for me. But I definitely have 2 or 3 titles that I bought last year via the app and haven't installed or played yet so not sure how I managed that.

For the free to play games it doesn't work, you need to play them from the steam client
