Pioneer VSX 922

08-05-2013 12:22pmHi.
A few years ago, I bought a Pioneer VSX 916 AV Receiver along with Tannoy speakers from your shopp but it started to give me issues with the sound in the last year. Some speakers wouldn't work. I know it's the receiver as I've swapped the speakers around the place and I also swapped the receiver with a spare one from a friend.
Anyway, I'm looking into changing it for the VSX 922 but I have 2 questions
1) Why is there a price difference between
http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/pioneer/vsx922/pion-vsx922-blk
and
http://www.richersounds.ie/asp/product.asp?objectid=&mode=0&categoryid=3&sub=24&productid=1279&c=0
2) Why is the €/£ exchange rate so bad ? €249.95 / €319.99 = 0.7811
AIB rate now is .8334 and the best rate I can get is .8463 with transfermate.
I would buy from richersounds.com if they would deliver to ROI.
thanks in advance
Regards
Gaetan1

GG,
apologies for the inconvenience!
The main reason there is a sterling rice difference is because we are way behind updating our pricing on the .ie site - no excuses :o
We always sell at the same price as the .com or .co.uk site - without exception ( except when we're cheaper of course :pac:)
The current price on the Pioneer VSX922 is £239.00 / €294.99 and I know from your mail that you were also interested in the Sony STRDH820 and its just been reduced to £199.95 / €239.99
On the sterling / Euro conversion - we do not follow any inter-bank rates nor do we publish a blanket conversion rate for all products - this is for many reasons including - the prevailing rate when WE purchased the product and of course we have to pay a conversion rate when we convert our euro lodgements into sterling which is quite significant.
However we always offer a pricebeat - if you can buy the same product anywhere in Ireland in Euro cheaper delivered from an authorised dealer who has the unit in stock - we will beat the competitors price.
We also of course offer all our ROI Customers the option of purchasing in Sterling at the published price and if you can achieve a better conversion rate from your Credit card supplier then we would always recommend that you fire ahead and take that - alternatively - if you want a completely fixed rate in euro we do offer that as a service.
At the end of the day we sell TV & Hifi - we don't want to get involved in making (or losing) on currency risk - and if you give us a call or drop us a mail if you think our pricing is out of line - we will do our best to trim it depending on the individual product circumstances..
Apologies for being so long winded - it's not a simple subject!

I also want to say that you've always answered my queries from a technical point of view and never tried to sell me a product that was more expensive than another. You've also provided a fantastic support in the past when my remote failed and Pioneer didn't cover for the repair. You simply sent me one of your spare ones.
I'll put in an order
Thanks a mil.

Hi John. I'm very happy with that fast answer. Please, don't take my queries as a critic. I know you're the most competitive on the market and it was just a simple query. I know from the past that the rate was close but I didn't know that I could put the order in sterling which is great.
