2)Grand Opening On Saturday, January 5, 2013 At Del Aire Park
Del Aire residents planted 27 fruit trees, eight grape vines, more than 60 trees were given away to neighbors. Once the trees bear fruit, all park visitors will be encouraged to pick from the new edible landscape at harvest time. Within three years, the trees are expected to be completely sustainable and drought tolerant.

Its not a totally mad idea... might not get very far trying to grow mangos in Meath though! :D We could maybe stick to apples though.

But i think you would have a very big job on your hands trying to convince Meath county council to do anything like this.

    Very nice idea though.

    Thats a great idea.
Theres far too many GAA pitches out there so we could dig up a few of those.
As its Ireland, why not do spuds instead?

They're private property, this would have to be public, though I'm sure if the council offered them twice the going rate they'd consider letting the land go.

You'd have to wash anything you pick before eating, for health and safety reasons.

They say the same thing about fruit bought in shops, we've never ever done that and are all still here

They'd be a bit stricter here though, there would be inspectors and all sorts to ensure compliance. Probably a levy to pay for the service.

Stricter than L.A.? Really? I'd doubt that very much, it's a personal choice to eat or not in the end, what would they be able to levy? Entrance to the open field or public park?
