Its a brand and the most important thing about a brand is maintaining a positive image. Burberry were pissed when chavs were wearing their clothes. They destroyed it's image.

Likewise abercrombie is very skinny preppy rich bitch and the CEO just is stating that. He is saying what most CEOs wont say in public. Like certain firms with "family values" don't like hiring black or gay people in the us. But they're not going to say that aloud

I dont even think the brand is particularly nice. As for size. You could argue all day about how big a size 14 is, but it comes down to your height as well. A lot of tall women who are skinny could take a 12 nearing 14, due to their height. so its really irrelevant to argue over sizes in that respect.

I would just let him off to his own devices, OP. the brand isnt even nice in my opinion. And look at the end of the day. its up to him to decide who to market to and what makes the most money.

being healthy and confident is the best thing at the end of the day. of course its important to respect yourself from within and outwards. But being overly skinny and overly heavy are both as bad as each other and being a moderate healthy weight should be everyones goal if its achievable, because in all honestly, at the end of the day, you want to be able to physically do everything your body should allow you to do, feel good about yourself and not miss out on things because of extreme weight problems and as I said, it works both ways, too skinny and too heavy.

I'm sure they were annoyed but at the same time the chavs were still handing over their money to buy the clothes, so the company was presumably still doing well financially. I'm sure that sweetened their annoyance slightly.

I think the OP would do better to deal with her own prejudices before worrying about A&F's.

If she lost the giant chip on her shoulder she'd probably be a size 8.

honestly think you should all come down a peg or two here and just keep on topic rather than throwing out below the belt comments at people you don't know, especially when you don't know how people feel about the situation or why its affecting them.

back on topic. I dont think he even cares about the people involved or has a problem with heavier women. He's stated already, making it an elite sort of brand, gives it that elitist sort of label. sort of like Brown Thomas. Ive seen plain white t shirts in there, that look as refined as the ones in lower market stores, but you would pay an arm and a leg for them all the same.

Not sure about that, a quick look at the UK site has only sizes S, M and L for jeans.

For some clothing companies, L would be size 12, and I'd say that's very likely the case here. Can't see size 6 being excluded so L might even be size 10!

I just looked at the site there and the jeans are available in US sizes 00 (!) -10 so they do go up to a UK 14.

I don't see the problem OP. who cares? I hate all this faux outrage crap nowadays. Do you even wear their clothing or are you just getting worked up about it for the sake of it?

Also someone bigger than a size 14 wearing 'super skinny' jeans is ridiculous anyway

And we should thank him and pay over the odds for that.

I'm more annoyed at the mocking of the hat forum thing. Facial hair is there too for us men that can handle the wight of being a man on our face.

It says their clothes are aimed at attractive and athletic people, everyone I see must be wearing adercrombie & titch. If only the name was plastered all over it so I could tell

The OP starts a thread like this and then let's slip a comment like that about skinny people. What did she expect would happen?

Snide comments and obese self pity aren't going to make her popular here. The Ladies Lounge or Personal Issues would have been a better choice if she wanted more sensitive answers, but AH? Not really the place for it.

On topic, this guy knows his market and he is just being honest about it.

The money made from keeping a brand like A&F desirable will always outweigh the money lost from a group not in their target demographic, who can't shop there anyway.
