Is it possible to licence an idea...?

    Hi all,

    I was wondering is it possible to licence a idea. It would be supplying a fairly common product to a market that does not really have it being supplied to....?

    Any idea?

    You can licence a patented product or process and you can licence the use of a protected brand. Of course You can also licence an idea/concept but why would anyone pay for something that is not protected when any competitor can copy for free?

    Im just wondering could you get a possible licence for supplying a particular product to a market of a particular use, basically controlling the market and controlling market share... I ask this as a friend of mine had a business years ago which supplied condom machines to nightclubs/bars etc but somebody saw this idea was going well, got the idea licensed ande blew your man out of the water and no he has total market share.....

    No, what happened to your friend is typical of a competitor coming along(pun intended) and simply doing it better. It is what entrepreneurial business is all about!!

    Good at these puns ;)

    I understand that... however anybody that goes near the condom business in clubs/bars has to get the rights off your man as he has the licence. I just wondering can I do that in terms of my idea, get it licensed so people thinking of doing it have to get my permission.

    He thus must have protection (pun intended) by having an exclusive agreements to control all supply of condoms from each and every nightclub/bar. Of course he could also have some very big guys with hammers and crowbars who make sure only his equipment ( pun intended) is available on site! Others may find it wiser not to fcuk (bad pun intended) with his patch!
    Used clothing collection is an example!

    Ill just go the route of the scary big lads if its cheaper!! Ye has some sort of legal protection, he says its a license so I am not to sure. I better see if I can get some protection or some hard lads in (pun intended)
