shotgun refurb

    Hey lads im refurbing my shotgun, i need to get the barrels blued any idea on what this would cost, im going to ring a few places tomorrow and want a rough idea on what it will cost,

    Also i have the stock etc all sanded down, whats the best for redoing the finish

    Are you going to blue the barrel? You could use black oxide as well.

    Not the black oxide finish, I have used the cold blue from G55 which is OK.
    I know that the black oxide is a pretty durable finish, The 870 shotgun uses it and it holds up really well.
    If I was doing a gun up as a working gun I'd use it no problem.

    Personally, I like the look of hand rubbed in oil. I do not like the look or feel of super gloss finishes.

    Simply sand to where you want, chose an oil, and rub. Nothing fancy or expensive and the finish is top notch.

    Any checkered areas?

    if you don't like the gloss finish like i left on my gun you can give it a llight rub with some fine wire wool and it will leave a nice matt finish, i usually prefer matt finish myself and have a matt finish on my baikal and beretta but the way it looked i had to leave it!!!!
