    Hello

Called Axa yesterday looking for a quote for home insurance but they wouldn't talk to me as the house has a flat roof. A call to chill.ie met with the same response.

House is a few years old, built to very high spec. Roof is totally flat.

Looking for pointers anybody may have on which companies will quote on this.

    Thanks.

    Try FBD

FBD are a straight decline on flat roofs so don't bother. Probably someone like Alan B Kidd or Finsure that have household schemes with Lloyds underwriters for non-standard properties.

We have a property with a flat roof insured with FBD, so a straight decline they aren't. They came to look at ours however as it's part of a mixed commercial property.

Currently going to prestige through a broker. Although I think it needs an inspection each year. Only got a quote as currently sale agreed.

Chill are a broker so I'm surprised they didn't have anyone to accommadate you. Was there any other reason given? Like claims or if the house was over 100 yers old?

Anyway, ring Finsure. They are definitely your best bet. They specialise in flat roof houses. (Im an insurance broker).

Finsure were a funny one with me. As you said flat roof all over their site. I rang them and once I mentioned it was a concrete roof they classed it as a "standard" roof and passed me off saying anyone should be able to quote for that..... which they won't. Going to shop around again next year.

A (full) concrete roof is usually treated as standard by Insurers in my experience

Aviva treat a 100% concrete flat roof as standard. Let me know how you get on.
