Has anyone here ever known someone to get a permanent job through the Fas internship schemes?

I think two or three people in my job have. There is one now who is definitely permanent and he has two in on an internship who were whittled down from about 6 who had trials.

But then again all these jobs that he has them in for are well to be honest shiit.

I've tried but in a subtle way. Time to be more direct, methinks. :/ I'm embarrassed for him as he's a very nice chap otherwise but this is doing my head in. He's also very chatty and tries to engage me in conversation when I'm trying to read the paper. I try to be polite and diplomatic but it's like talking to a wall. :(

I once had to point out to a colleague that he smelled bad. Not nice to have to do, but better than having to smell the smelly b*stard all day :pac:

I would take him aside and say it to him quietly, I wouldn't do it in front of anyone either. You are doing this to be nice, and it will more than likely embarrass him (although I am sure he would appreciate it), so the nicer you are about it, the more receptive he will be!

Jesus yeah. I didn't mean shout at him in front of everyone else :pac:

Just don't do what I once witnessed a príck of a work colleague do to another one who had only been working there a few months.

Go to the shop, come back, and casually says 'I bought something for you. I left it in the bag in the back. The guy goes back into the back and opens the bag. A can of lynx.

The guy was mortified, I don't think he said a word to anyone else except the customers for the rest of the day. :(

Mother of god, it should not be this ****ing difficult to print a document! Stupid printer is on the fritz again. So help me, I'm going to put it in a box, then into another box. Then I'll mail the box to myself and when it arrives I'll BASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!

    ^^^ love that film :).

My printer plays this great game called "Cancelling". It likes to play most when I am busy and in a rush to print handouts for my students usually, or when I was printing stuff for college last year. It prints half the print job, then just stops, mid page and doesn't do anything else. It's brilliant.

    I fckkning hate my printer.

I love when you're printing a document and the printer decides to print the entire internet.

I know someone who was linked to smurf porn, sure enough you can guess what was printed in front of the whole family

Ugh, tough break on the smurf porn Arawn!

Sweet jesus, it was one thing after another today in college. Firstly, damn Directions class stuck myself and the other two people in my class with cleaning duties for the canteen for the second day in a row. They've promised to "help us clean it next Friday". Bastards. Always announce it at the last minute.
Then there's Mr Messy Eater that I've previously mentioned. I've told him outright but politely that his habit of chewing with his mouth open is off putting and he's all apologies and whatnot.
Que lunch break, he's STILL doing it with added spittle and food bits flying about. I had to sneak off to Leo Burdock's on my own when his back was turned. Thankfully, he had to go do some business in the afternoon so I didn't have to endure him talking my ear off on the walk to the bus stop. Then, upon crossing the road to get to the damn bus stop, some ****ING LOOPER breaks the lights and almost plows into me but not before beeping the horn loudly despite the fact the little man was on green for pedestrians.
I'm set to burst into tears. Only thing holding me together is the knowledge that I have a half day on Friday and the prospect of getting €50 off my bro that night.
Otherwise, **** this week with a shovel! :(

Took my daughter out fishing for the first time
    My god she can talk.
"Dad look a sheep" " dad look a cow"
    Dad where's all the fish

Then she managed to catch more fish than I did. I got one she caught 2 and Havint heard the end of it.
"Ha ha I caught more than you did"
But she's happy. Delighted shes out doing this with me. Gets her out of the house aswell.

Every morning, my gf's alarm goes off at 3.30, I wake up, try to go back asleep, fail, eventually fall asleep around 15-20 mins before my own alarm goes off at 6. I am actually now a zombie :pac:

    I wish I could get UPC :(
Am stuck with Eircom.. their call centre is horrendous, I hate having anything to do with it :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,029 ✭✭✭salacious crumb

I'm stuck with Magnet, cos my house never even had an eircom line, which also means those kind people at Sky wouldn't let me have Sky +

    Awesome broadband speed though.

I love UPC, makes me sad when I have to go back to Longford, where it's Eircom, or worse.

UPC is great when you can get it. Eircom are a big massive pile of dung though.
