I got my shotgun licence renewal form 8 weeks ago, sent it away and it has not come back yet. My old licence expired on the 4th of may. did anyone else have the same problem?. And can i still shoot without it?

My friend got his renewal for his shotgun, but not his rifle. As the Gardaí are not accepting FCA1's for renewals he must wait on his FCR. 4 calls, and a visit to the station, and he still has not gotten it. His license has expired so i suggested he put the gun away until he gets it sorted.

I would suggest the same to yourself. Unlike the first time the new licenses came out there is no grace period due to slow processing. Air on the side of caution, and wait. In another week or so i'd call the station, and ask the FO how it's going. Inform her/him that your license in out of date, and the gun is locked away. Ask their opinion on using it if you wish, but i'd imagine the response would be to wait until the new license comes through.
