Did you see the statement from the Wicklow TD's? WOOHOO!

    STATEMENT BY WICKLOW TDS
    Thursday, 06 June 2013

WICKLOW TDS SUPPORT CALLS FOR EDUCATE TOGETHER SCHOOL
Donnelly, Doyle, Ferris, Harris & Timmins support calls for Educate Together patronage of new North Wicklow post-primary school.

“A new 1,000 pupil school will open in 2016 in North Wicklow and the Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn, has invited patron bodies to apply for patronage of the new school.

“We are supporting calls for Educate Together to be recognised as the patron of the new school.

“As it stands all other patron groups are well represented in North Wicklow, with a Gael Scoil, three newly built VECs and a joint patronage VEC and Catholic school in Bray, two Church of Ireland schools and a mix of legacy single sex and coeducational Catholic schools.

“Educate Together, then, is the only patron that does not have a second level school to continue onto in their own ethos.

“Parents should have choices in the education of their children and as Minister Quinn has stated before parental preference is the key issue in determining who should be awarded patronage.

“With that in mind, we would encourage parents to engage with the process and sign an expression of interest form. These forms can be found on the Educate Together website www.wicklow2school.ie which also has all the information that they would need about what to expect from an Educate Together second level school.”

Hi, it's in this week's Wicklow Times on page 19 and also on our website www.wicklow2school.ie. We are very appreciative of all 5 TDs recognition of our need for choice at 2nd Level.

Yes sorry for not getting back sooner - page 19 of last week's Wicklow Times - personally I thought it should have been front page news - so great to have support for something this county, the parents and children need!

The VEC have expressed an interest but we don't know who else has.

After all of our efforts - in 2016 - patronage for a North Wicklow ET school has been granted (a location has not been confirmed) but the bad news is Greystones ET and Wicklow ET are NOT on the feeder list. PLEASE SIGN all 3 PETITIONS on this page and help us send a message to the Minister, the TD's and all current Councillors and those running in the upcoming election...our voices will be heard, thank you for your support.
