Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I did see many of the away end supporters invading the pitch and fighting with Stewards but yeah, plastic bottle, much worse...

Villa wont go down anyway, no way will Wigan when tuesday and then beat Villa.

Haha makes it even sweeter that way.

Spurs fans were probably creaming themselves when we were a goal down with 10 men. Guess they won't be posting in this thread anymore.

    Scholes....LOL.

One does not simply LOL at Paul Scholes!

So looks like Spurs are going to be the ones to miss out, anything can happen though

Hopefully Hazard is fit for the EL final, would be a shame if he missed it

Well ye can blame Benteke for costing ye at least a point.

With Ramires getting sent off for 2 soft yellows Benteke gave the ref a chance to do the exact same.

Great victory, delighted to beat Villa.Bitter losers with some of the fan behaviour.

As for Frank, was starting to doubt if he'd do it,but he did. What a great thing to see, deserves it so much!

Yes I was happy, but that is how it goes. Benteke red card changed the game, still hate your club but well done for top 4 nonetheless.

Dont feel like Villa deserved to lose / Chelsea deserved to win but obviously cant argue with them taking their chances and congrats to Lampard getting his record and everyone at Chelsea getting CL football again this year inc the fans. Will it be Spurs or Arsenal joining them I wonder.

Arsenal to beat Wigan anyway and Villa to be safe before playing them, when we might pick up points anyway despite Benteke missing.

Still from a midfielder, the best England ever produced, brilliant record.

Lol, I'm sure Bobby Charlton scored more goals than Lampard.

If the first half was dismal then the second half (after Benteke's sending off) was very good. A strong response was needed and that's what we got. There's no denying Frank Lampard's quality and contribution to Chelsea and his two goals, both such classic Lampard goals, has secured Champions League football next season for Chelsea. he's been a legend at Chelsea, a truly great player who deserves his place among the greats of English football.

The negatives are the injuries to Terry, Azpilicueta but most of all Eden Hazard (who again played well today, and was electric at 10 vs 10, his assist for the second is just another example of his incredible quality). Chances are that he will miss the Europa League final and that's a huge loss because he is the star of this Chelsea show.

However the main thing was getting top four. It's secured, next season, with these players, with a couple of signings, with Mourinho, there's no telling what the limit is for this Chelsea team.

Any chance that it was just cramping up/tightness rather than an injury to Hazard's hamstring?

hes had way more appearances for utd than lampard has for chelsea

Lampard played 793 games for Chelsea and West Ham and scored 242 goals.

Bobby Charlton scored 758 games and scored 249 goals.

    Next what?

If you did a shots per goal ratio, lampard would be up there with heskey. Won't even mention deflections!
Scholes is way ahead as a player

    Scholes is a great passer.

Lampard is a far more rounded player, box to box, goals etc.Lampard is better than Scholes.

There's this thing that I hate. This weird attitude that Lampard doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside Scholes or Gerrard, or among the great English players to play in England like Charlton. Lampard's record speaks for itself, his achievements can't be questioned, his contribution to Chelsea as a club unmatched. He's a great player, a different kind of player to Scholes, however to say Scholes is way ahead is ridiculous. Newsflash, if you don't shoot you don't score.
