Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    4-1 City for me

I'd cheer for Wigan if it wasn't for their idiotic owner. In fact I might have to watch it on the sky+ so I can fast forward the inevitable sh1te he is going to be spouting before and after the game.
I can see it being an open game with goals, 3-2 Man City, Dzeko to score the winner.

FA Cup final: Man City's Costel Pantilimon set to get big chance
    ...

Whatever happens this weekend, Pantilimon appears likely to leave England in the summer in search of first-team football, but his largely frustrating time on these shores will end in glory if, as expected, he is preferred to Hart and then helps City beat Wigan.

    ...

    BBC

Didn't realise that Pantilimon gets all the cup games.

If, as the article says, he is off this summer, Joe Hart should get the game; no need for loyaly if he's leaving and no place for sentiment!

Go Wigan! Expecting City to inflict a heavy defeat.

20 years ago I'd have been excited, now it's all very meh sadly unless Liverpool are involved, or at least a good game perhaps. I'll still watch anyhow though.

I think it would show a bit of class to let Pantilimon play, after him playing in the earlier rounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,078 ✭✭✭onemorechance

Ya, maybe it's the right thing to do, play Pantilimon.

Hart probably isn't expecting to play anyway and the disappointment of Pantilimon will far exceed that of Hart.

This used to be as big as any CL final.

Still great day for both teams in it though.

City to win handy enough. 3-0

Ridiculous kick off time. Ridiculous that it's not the last game of the season. If they carry on this crap the FA cup will be as irrelevant as the league cup.

I remember man utd's 1990 cup run. I had a video of all the matches leading up to the final and a video of the full final. Still one of my favourite memories as a UTD fan.

Not really to do with fergie tbh. Its been like this the last couple if years since they started dicking with it . As above it should be the last game of the season and on at 3 o'clock.

Fair play to espn doing the full day thing like the good olf days.

Wasn't the date bought forward because of a world cup a few years ago? I thought it was a one-off but it seems to have stuck. Its a shame it's lost some of its prestige, having two cup competitions doesn't help.

Was brought forward once the CL final switched to a Saturday I think.

Those 2 idiots on the pitch for the last 30 mins or so were quite the headwreck

As a Wigan fan you only dream of days like today, on paper we've little chance, but its Wembley, the F.A Cup Final, hopefully still a bit of magic left in it. Win or Lose its an unbelievable achievement in its own right. MON THE LATICS :)

I had to ask someone what time the FA Cup final kicks off at today (after being reminded that it actually is on today). Sad times.

Cup final trivia. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan once broke a leg in an FA Cup final. Not many people know this as Dave doesn't really like to mention it.

Joke from the FA to schedule their showpiece final before league end. Not fair on Wigan survival hopes

3-0 city - cant see Wigan getting anything from this

it says something how the cup has been devalued , that I now prefer league cup - anyway , hope for good game

Less than two hours, nervous excitement is fully set in.

Expecting us to line up - Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Clichy, Nastasic, Kompany, Barry, Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero.

Milner over Nasri would be preferable though.

    Any score prediction Xavi?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

Serious doubts over Mancini's future overshaddowing this game as well as the SAF retirement/Moyes appointment.

City's last FA cup final came on the day Utd won the league in '11. They can't catch a break :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,905 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Any score prediction Xavi?

Really don't want to curse it. If we score first early it could be three or four nil but I'll go a 2-1 win though.

We're at full strength and they've injuries which I think is important.

ESPN saying Hart starting. That'd be unfair on poor Pantilimon, hopefully he starts.

    4-1 city.

Could be something to do with him saying a few weeks back that he will be moving on during the summer.

    *Irrelevant United reference.

Its either this weekend, or two weekends after the league ends.
The traditional slot is gone for good because of the CL final.
They could maybe experiment with a Wednesday night final but that would make people unhappy as well.

Harsh on the big man if he's not playing, can only be because of his comments midweek.

Got the outfield line up right anyway.

City - Hart, Nastasic, Zabaleta, Kompany, Clichy, Yaya, Nasri, Barry, Silva, Tevez, Aguero.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

2-1 to Man City in this one I think. Not sure if Wigan will be able for the pace of the City attack.

Throwing a bit on Nasri man of the match @ 18/1, think he's been playing well for the last few weeks.

    Poor costel

Jesus, I nearly forgot that the FA Cup was on this weekend. A cup competition that has really lost it's charm to me unfortunately. I think it's more down to the over saturation of live games that are readily available these days.

Hoping for a good game anyway with a Man City win preferably.

If anything happens Hart and he has to go off you wonder what frame of mind Pantilimon would be in.

Same here, I thought it was tomorrow actually.

Used to be a massive event, highlight of the season for many people but now it's just another game.

dropping Pantilimon just shows up Mancini's man management skills again imo

No Gary Caldwell for Wigan, that's disappointing.

Pantilimon said during the week that he's leaving so why should Mancini show him any loyalty? Should have kept his mouth shut. Plus he hasn't played in a month so is hardly in form.

It looks unfair at face value but Mancini has done the right thing imo all things considered.

He'd want to have a good one alright. Pantilimon must feel pretty insulted. Is he likely to stay on after the summer? I thought I saw a headline during the week that he could be on his way.
