would be good if someone could post the time splits and finish times for all the propper GC contenders, especially the split at the bottom of the climb and the final times

Well, isn't it exactly as everyone predicted - Nibali time trialling his way into the maglia rosa, while Wiggins saves himself for the mountains... wait, something's not right!

    Nibbles 8/13
    Wiggo 4/1
    Cuddles 10/1
    Hesjedal 10/1
    Kiserlovski 10/1

Thats the betting after todays stage, almost 40/1 or more bar those 5.

I don't understand how Kiserlovski who is curently lying 25th and lost loads of time today is 10/1 , the same as Ryder aand Cadel...must be a mistake

Sammy is a better bet than him !!

what was wiggens odds b4 this?

even so if you can afford to lose, Id put it on wiggens. he has been concentrating on his climbing more than his TT'ing in build up to giro, look at how he went in the t o catalyuna climbs!

I think 4/1 are pretty good odds for a favourite, especially a sure bet like wiggens

I thought Evans looked stronger in the last 4kms than Nibali. I wouldn't write him off yet and 10/1 looks good odds. Might wager a few euro :pac: Looks like this one might just go down to the wire. Giro has consistently been the most exciting Grand Tour over the past few years. Bring it on...

Wiggins was even money before the giro and 9/4 after yesterdays stage so his odds are still drifting

Anyone else hear Ryan Sherlock being mentioned?

They were discussing whether aero bidons were illegal in TT's, and I thought one of them read a text from RS confirming that indeed they were.

    Or was I hearing things?:o

    TBH very open looking still.
I'd not write off Wiggins but his head doesn't seem rigth for whatever reasons.
I'd prob see it overall as Nibali from cuddles with 3rd up for grabs.

I actually agree with you but I have to ask the question.... Where do you see him making gains? It's hard to imagine him attacking at any time let alone the high mountains. He could wait for the Uphill TT but Nibali looks more than equal to the task thus far.

I honestly believe that if this was football then Brailsford would be sent packing. This is the second GT he's effectively sacrificed at the alter of Sir Brad. Henao would be in third place now had he been allowed to finish with the lead group yesterday and probably be in a very good place to contest Nibali in the mountains for the overall.

Wiggins lost a minute to Nibali on the technical first section and also had a bike change @ 20secs lost, and still beat him by 11 secs in the end. I think he's well able to take a minute out of Nibali on the uphill TT if he doesn't lose time in the mountains.

Agreed, the final TT has an average of 4.5% so not something that will put wiggins off. He was by far the fastest up the final climb yesterday. He showed in Paris Nice last year he is well capable of riding a good uphill TT, the Col Deze is 4.7% over 10km

This has made for a very interesting Giro to be fair. Sky have 3 riders in the top 10 so everytime one of them attack Astana will have to shut it down, constantly wearing them out. I think Nibali knows he has his work cut out for him defending the pink jersey for the next 2 weeks. I for one think that this has made the giro far more interesting than the procession we all thought we were in for

Evans went 5 seconds faster over the final climb, and Nibali, Pozzovivo, Scarponi and Kessiakoff were all within 5 seconds of Wiggins.

    Wiggins commentary:
    Still in the fight..

    <snip>

..."We’re still here and we’ve got three guys in the top 10 now. We’ve got a few cards to play.”

The last line sounds defeat-ish

Seriously? If that's the case then shouldn't everyone heading a Pro Tour team be "sent packing" after 2 successive failures to take a GT? Brailsford has delivered more in the past couple of years with Sky than pretty much any other team and will probably head into the Tour with the favourite in his team. With such a record to suggest his head should be called for is, frankly, absurd (but then again I do recall people calling for Ferguson's head back around 1990 - I knew pretty well at that time that it wasn't going to happen, regardless of Mark Robins' goal at the City Ground;))
