Hey everyone, just wondering if I could get anyone's opinion on this course http://www.ucc.ie/en/ckl19/ what are job prospects like and coursework etc. I'm currently in my final year studying economics and would love to be a financial trader. I'm also interested in these two courses http://www.ucc.ie/en/ckl18/ and http://www.smurfitschool.ie/mastersprogrammes/innovationthroughict/mscinibusiness-innovationthroughict/careers,114125,en.html . which of these two would be better and again job prospects and coursework???

thanks very much for any replies.

If you want to be a trader, doing those courses in the last links will not help you in any way. Business innovation has little or nothing to do with trading.

The financial economics ion UCC is okay. Will it get you in a trading position, I don't know. Personally I think the course is weak when it comes to computing e.g tools like matlab, R, C++, programming or modelling etc.

This being so its suitable for someone whose level of maths is not advanced. This course is not for someone that wants to be an algorithmic trader.

Take a look the masters in computational finance or masters in financial services in limerick or masters in computing and trading in Queens belfast.

Ypur choice should depends on what knd of trader you ant to be. Algo the more adanced type or or more fundamentals or technical type.Whatever you decide you are guaranteed a job.

Good luck and all the best.

I'll be doing one of the above masters next year.

    No probs.

Hopefully I get into the master in UL next year or will use the one in UCC as a fall back.

If you decide to do one of the above this year, Please let me know how you get on.

    Good luck mate
