I accidently broke the screen of my Sony Vaoi Laptop model SVE1512J6EW. 3/4th of the screen is full of ink and its impossible to use it anymore. How much would it cost me to get it repaired?

Buy a replacement screen on ebay for €70. They're ready to replace yourself.

Its Easy to Replace you be looking at 60Euro just for them to look at it

they buy the Screen for 100 Euro Plus Add 23% onto that as VAT.

plus their work so you could be looking at 300 euro

you can buy one from England they Use Samsung Screens, Sony has a power cable running from the motherboard to the back of the Screen which means you dont need to take the whole Case off ontop like before just take the front panel of the screen off disconnect the screen and put in the new Screen.

They're easy to replace when you get the right screen. In my experience I've been sent the wrong screen twice (even though I'd given the code thats written on the back of the screen). Wasn't worth the hastle, bring it to one of those little shops you see all over the place (I'm thinking Moore St, Dublin), They'll charge about €90-150

    That's a ridiculous price tbh :)

A typical new laptop screen would be around €50-€70 to source (including shipment). Avoid the big chains, they will rip you off. Your local computer guy will fit the screen for about €40-€50

Dunno where you're pulling those figures from or a repair shop is pulling the piss with you because that's not true. The likes of PC World are hefty (around the €180 mark) since they've recently decided to lump on the €65 "look at it" charge and send them off.

Don't know any shops in Dublin but the average cost of a screen repair, depending on the model of the screen plus the installation fee should be between €90 - €150, sometimes higher in rare cases due to a specialised screen.

Your Sony Vaio E series model should be in the €100 - €120 mark so let that be a rough quote for you to aim for.

I mentioned DID because I think they're very competitive (and obviously backed by a guarantee, which the back street places may not be). I have a friend who works there and he told me some of their prices (I have nothing to do with DID other than a friend who works there). In the conversation I said their prices were very reasonable and he said that's because the market is competitive. Worth a phone call anyway.

DID's website says that the cost for replacement screen of laptops in the range of 13.3"-17.3" is between 150-190 euros. Thats a tad steep isnt it? Must look elsewhere.

Not sure which one of these if any is the absolute correct one, but the average price for a new screen seems to be around the €65 mark. 10 minutes work (that is being VERY careful) and you will have it fixed.

Give this guy a bell,.. (Chris 087-3261911) He has a small shop in Nth.Frederick St. called GIF-Electronics.

I brought him in the motherboard from my HP laptop, and he done a re-flow on the graphics chip for €20.
Nice guy, not long in business, knows his stuff, and seems to be getting plenty of work in there too.

Alternatively, if you feel like tackling it yourself, buy a second hand screen on Adverts.ie.
