Hi this is my first post and just looking for some advice please. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis three years ago. I had my left ovary removed as well as surgery to my bladder and kidney. Right ovary was functioning well I get the normal cysts every so often on scans but nothing major. Feel fine otherwise, have a some endo on bowel also but can't be lasered off. I am 33 could do to lose a stone I suppose. We have been trying 9 months, using fertility monitor, pre seed and basal temping..... Just wonder what I should do next, I know they say wait a year but I suppose I am conscious of the endo and the fact that the gynae told me that bowel endo can only be removed with a hysterectomy and I would have a colostomy for six months. I am hoping this will happen a good bit down the line. Thanks in advance for advice!

I had endo cut out from around my bowel in December. A previous surgeon said nothing could be done but Dr Allasam of the Gal way clinic went in and opened both tubes and cut (not laser ed) away all endo. Cut away endo has a lot smaller chance of coming back. Maybe get a copy of your files and arrange a second opinion.

Thank you Barbiegirl. Didn't even think of that. I went public at the time. On the day of my operation both the gynae and urologist did the surgery together and they asked a gastroenterologist I think (sorry if wrong term) to attend. But that was two years ago and after nine months of dectopeptyl and mirena for 18 months I am hoping it shrunk....can I ask what your experience was ttc? Anything help not help? Thanks for your reply!

We did IUI and it worked 3rd time out, but we lost at 5.5 weeks, then we got pregnant ourselves and lost both again around the 5.5 weeks. We had tests, lots of them and then went to napro. They monitored my hormones and fertile mucus for 3 cycles, organised a hysteroscopy weren't happy with the results, organised a second opinion and in December I had a endo cut out, both tubes opened, a fibroid removed and a septum removed. The fibrous and septum in conjunction with the hormone imbalances caused by the endo were causing our babies tho not implant properly. Now were on cycle two of treatment, a clomid like tablet at the beginning of the cycle and injections to support any pregnancy towards the end.
Things I've found that helped, number 1 my husband, this is not a solo journey and it can either drive you apart or bring you together. For us thankfully we're stronger than ever. Two a doctor who actually listened, to everything, my tiredness, my tummy upsets, headaches everything,. Three being open and honest about our journey. I am not ashamed, it is a medical issue and I feel that by being open I might help someone else struggling. Acupuncture, reiki etc did nothing for me, but walking my dogs and relaxing does.
Best of luck and keep pushing for answers.

Thanks for sharing your story Barbiegirl and I am sorry to hear of your losses. It sounds like quite a roller coaster you have been through. It's something I have been thinking about from the beginning, that it may not happen without intervention at this stage . Going to try one more cycle and then get down to gp!my husband is great I must admit, three of his friends wives all fell pregnant recently and he was so nervous telling the poor thing but at least he has some bit of tact about the situation!! Of course I am delighted for them all. I really hope you hear some good news soon and thanks for the advice. I know a lot of people don't understand the endo journey and all it brings!

Don't waste too much time with GPs, you better look for a specialist consultant. My advice (speaking from personal experience) to you would be to go straight to fertility clinic and ask them what to do. There are few in Dublin ( I went to SIms). You could be loosing valuable time. Ultimately, it's up to you.

Thanks Groz I was supposed to see my gynae in march but that appointment was cancelled until end of this month. Just got letter Friday to say that appt has been cancelled until July. You are right going to take my own action and speak directly with fertility clinic. AF arrived yesterday so another unsuccessful month again....But i pretty much knew It would! Thanks for advice
