Soldering iron + multimeter?

Hi, I'm looking for soldering iron and multimeter.
I did not use such tools good few years as usually it was my father who was fixing everything and tweaking electronic "toys" '
Quite a lot people recommend Weller and Metcal soldering tools and Fluke multimeter seems to be the best on market.
I'm looking for something not very expensive as I'll use it only from time to time - currently I need to replace headphones cable as old one is soo thin (also cable core is like 0.2mm thin) that I wouldn't risk fixing it as I bet i'll burn it with soldering iron.
Therefore I'm looking for some recommendations.

for once in a blue moon soldering just get a cheapie. no reason to splash out.

and to be honest, if you are only using the meter like that, then the same applies.

Note some cheap meters read high when the battery low indicator is on

A digital meter works by timing how long it takes to charge a capacitor through a constant current source. So they cost a little more than a digital clock and besides a temperature change of 1 degree will change the output from most circuits by something of the order of 10mv at the very least.

Then search for soldering iron

Flux pen / paste is handy for repairs
some way of desoldering is handy too, YMMV in the wars beween solder pump / desoldering braid
