Maybe Liz will have a sex change and return next season as Les.

Well that was a good episode and I don’t normally like the flash back stuff
Who’d have thought a crazy theory mentioned on here by a few of us looks to be coming up trumps
Should make a good episode next week, a farewell to Masha/liz and she finally gets the answers she wanted

    Damn that ending!

    Also
He is her mother and now they never have to officially reveal it.

That "life flashing before her eyes" montage was superb. Lovely music. Cried like a baby.

    What a great ending.

I feel like it they somehow reveal that Red
was previously a woman, via a DNA or blood test in season 9
, it will cheapen it a bit.
Too late to do it at that stage. Needed to be in this episode.

One thing The Blacklist does really well is to do something in the finale which will completely change the next season, and they've done that again.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

    Well
I think they actually did. If you go back to the dialogue you have these two parts:
While looking at the picture of her mother swinging her:
E: You were there. Did you knew her well?
    R: Better than anyone.

    And then in the park
E: Why can't I know beforehand who you are?
R: Because if you knew you'd never agree to kill me.
That to me points to an obvious answer.

But can only agree I could not figure out how the heck they were going to do season 9 before credits rolled; brilliantly done but it still begs the question of what it will be for season 9.

Maybe it’s just me but I thought the ending was predictable, how else would the next series have stayed in play with red as the main character
Some good acting, it’s amazing how a couple of good actors can make all the difference

The shows creator Jon Bokenkamp has left the show today as well.

What happened Tom and their child? I knew he had a spin off show

He and the child are in witness protection and were relocated in New York I think he works in a hospital working as a lone parent.

The actual answer with spoilers for obvious reasons :)
Spin of lasted a season and ran out int he sand. He was knifed down in front of Liz and died back in season 5. The child is still around mainly as someone Liz is hiding and talking to on the phone every so often. As she's been with a grandma character for a season now chances are she'll go with her and leave the picture.

I can't believe after 8 seasons they get away with
    not revealing who Red is

well the writers heavily implied who red is and i think most people are thinking along the same lines as to who they are

Well there's always the risk they decide to go GoT season 8 on us and try to "subvert our expectations"...

The next season will be filmed in a bar like Cheers, where people will come and go, just to listen to Red's anecdotes and get plastered, and he still won't own up as to his true identity.

I doubt any viewers really care who he is, it was only Liz that kept looking for answers

I'm watching at Sky 1 pace, was a bit surprised the way it ended.

If it does turn out that Red is who people think he is then it just doesn't make any sense.

Back October 21st. Also there will be a 2 year time jump

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,326 ✭✭✭OmegaGene

2 year time jump sounds like a good idea

Episode 2 was quite good and looks like things are picking up without Liz at last

I know we're only 2 episodes in but I'm not missing Liz at all

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,326 ✭✭✭OmegaGene

The series was always better without her in my opinion

Episode 3 done - it's like a different show without Liz, Spader just commands every scene he's in
