I'm looking for a 40" or bigger tv this time for myself with a budget of around €500.


I have been looking at Toshiba 46TL938G, it's on amazon.de at €560 including delivery.


Can you match or better that price? Or is there a better alternative ideally for less?

Unfortunately the 46TL938G is not one we stock.

We do stock the 46TL963B which is priced at £469.95 / 573.10 Euro but this is an in store only and would need collected from the Belfast store.

I have no 46" screen cheaper than this, sorry.

Would a drop in size be an option? To a 40" or 42"?

I not tide to 46" and am open to options but no smaller than 40"

I'm not sure of the difference between the two as we have never stocked the 938G I think its a European version as its being sold by Amazon Germany.

What are your desired specs for the screen you wish to purchase? 3D, Smart etc and I can give you a run down on some 40" or 42" screens that would suit.

Working late tonight.

Picture quality is the most important factor, has to be good to go for saorview but followed by 3d, it doesn't need smart tv or any other bells and whistles.
 
I am also in the market for a new av receiver. My current system is 6.1 my budget for now is a max €200. What can ye do for me?

Unfortunately there is a budget restriction and this means that most Sony models are off limits - to be fair I think that most Boardies and people in the industry would agree that Sony dominance of the TV world has well and truly ended now and Samsung / Panasonic / LG / Philips etc all have models that contend and in many instances provide significantly better performance than similarly priced models from Sony - we await the new top end Sony 4K models with interest to see if they can reassert themselves in late '13 / 14.

On the actual query relating to Plasma - ye I think you should A L W A Y S consider a decent plasma - the brightness, black levels and performance of most Plasma now means that you really have to have a look at Plasma - however most Plasma do have a glass contrast filter screen so direct reflections are a consideration,

I'm back in the hunt for the new tv.

Budget for new tv has slightly increased to €750 but it has to be at least 46".

Also could be persuaded to include onkyo TXNR515 if I could get them all for a super boards price;)


One way or other I'm buying a new TV by Monday.
