I seen that on Twitter this morning alright - so went and checked my account with no free bet . . then I read their tweet again and it was for outright bets only (not e/w). I still can't believe how he just popped it back in !

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭frink

    Speith
    Rose
McIlroy - despite talking myself all week to stop backing him, I succumbed.

Have a bet with a few mates where we pick 4 players to add up to 250/1 or more and went with:

    Rose
    Casey
    Schauffle
    Henley

Yes but an each way bet contains 2 bets. Both a win outright and a place outright so you should get at least get back half the bet as a free bet.
But the term outright would usually refer to the winner market as a whole both win and each way bets.

Id imagine they phrased it like this so people wouldnt be looking for free bets on other markets like first round leader.

If your account hasnt been credited i would get on to their customer service and say that you seen it mentioned on social media.

Just checked my account there - I have the full amount as a free bet now - as placed as an each way.

On the first round leader actually. Draw is crucial and the best time to be playing is usually in the later groups. Probably in the 3rd quarter of the groups if you split the field into quarters. So im looking at someone from groups 16-24
Its obviously not an exact science but the forecast lends itself to this. The greens will begin to lose a slight bit of pace due to the play and grass growth. Also the temperature will be at its warmest allowing the ball to fly further and the wind(very little wind in play today) is usually beginning to drop by then. Obviously the course will start to get firmer as the day goes on and the greens firmer. But i dont think this is a massive swinger around here as greens are usually firm anyway with the sub air system.

In any case without boring everyone. Ill stick 3 up at a price that i hope can sneak inside the top 8 that Betfair sportsbook are paying on FRL.

    1. Thomas Pieters 45/1 Went well on debut here and was tied for the lead after the second round. Played a practice round with Phil, Tiger and Freddie. I expect him to come out of the blocks hot and historically has one of the better tee times for FRL.
    2. Webb Simpson 66/1 I certainly wouldnt be following his round as he is possibly one of the slowest players on tour. However he is showing bits and pieces of form of late. He usually starts well if he is going to contend. He was a respectable T27 on his first appearance here last year. He is another in a good spot to be there or there abouts after R1.
    3. Si Woo Kim 100/1 This is more of a flyer. He missed the cut on his 1st appearance here last year. The current players champion is to big a price in this market for me to leave go at this price. He is liable of flying out of the blocks and definitely has the game to contend here at some point. Whether its this year or not is another thing. But he is a streaky player and well capable of playing well here.

I backed Marc Leishman each way @ 55/1 last week . .  then decided to have another flutter yesterday and decided each way on Tony Finau (before the Par 3) . . he was a great price . . then he decides to do some stupid run after a hole in one and pop, Jack's grandson showed more composure after his Hole in One :) :) . . Paddy power giving refunds on outright bets made on TF but not each !!
    Has he pulled out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,922 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Went for Spieth and Thomas win only and kizzire for top debutant

No he's still playing, but I cant see how effective he'll be with a high ankle sprain

    so..

Have Rose and Rahm and Speith (€5 E/W)

    I have 2 "outsiders"

    Alex Noren and Patrick Reed

Or course, I may need to reconsider Friday Evening !

He has played in the Masters since 2012 and finished +8 last year so not sure where this info is coming from to be honest. Best finish was -1 tied for 28th 3 years ago:confused::confused::confused:

Right you are Miley. The only thing i can think of is i had a gazillion tabs open and got my wires completely frazzled as was also considering a bet on John Rahm FRL but did not back him mainly due to price. Maybe he was around the T27 mark last year. To lazy to re-check.

Either way i still think Webb is in good form to put up a good showing and value as a FRL bet.

    Rahm looks favourable (W/O Reed/Rory).

The ideal finish for the 10pl would be single results at top of:
    -18, -17, -16, -13, -12, -11, -9, -8, -7, -6

Casey's good finish at -5 might be pushing it too much for 10th.

Every single major, I back Reed

But this last week, I was so swamped at work, I never got anywhere near a bookies.

Of course, im looking to be down 200+ quid because of it :D Stupid work

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,586 ✭✭✭4068ac1elhodqr

Think best price for Reed was about @51 via Hills 7pl.
It's not over yet however Spieth feeling cold on -6 looking for a jacket.

Ffs Rory the only one who's not in the red from the top 15.

Backed him this morning as the last leg of a treble... never again.

Thank you Sergio for putting 5 balls in the water on 15 and missing the cut. Put the free bet that paddy power gave on Reed when he was 10/1 :)

Had small e/w bets on 5 of the top 8 including reed so happy I'll be up a couple of quid.

Ricky was one of the players I hadn't backed so glad he didn't sneak it

Great week......winnings of 222 from Reed win, and placings from Rahm and Stenson. Delighted to end week on a high note.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,526 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

    did well this week

    Had Reed...45/1

    Also had Speith and Rahm

My son is a mad Fowler fan, so had him backed for the young fella

Put €20 on a total of 7 golfers. All of them were each way except McIlroy. Had €2 e/w on Reed as I had a feeling about him for the last few weeks for some reason. Finau and Leishman nearly got places for me which would have been a bonus. Haven’t collected yet but if my maths are correct I’ll be picking up €112.

    Henrik Stenson at 41.0
    Charley Hoffman at 101.0
    Adam Scott at 56.0
    Matt Kuchar at 46.0

All small e/w 8 places on Bet365, the odds were crappy on Skybet paying 10 places.

Not so bad, broke even with Stenson e/w, had a great buzz with Hoffman and Kuchar right up there for a good while too, only Scott was a disaster.

Mate of mine had Leishman and Dustin who came 9th and joint 10th and did his bets 8 places like me as the odds were crappy on Skybet who paid 10, he is understandably sickened.

Hoffman came 12th at 100/1 so wasn't terribly sick myself as I figured he was going to finish just outside the places.

Be careful what you wish for though, Jesus Patrick Reed's personal life all over the papers today. Christ.

Anyway, the Masters is always the best one but I'll have some e/w bets for the US Open again in June.

I remember reading your post and thinking they were solid predictions, sadly I just went with spieth and jt (both win only) myself

    Speith is a good bet,

Mickelson needs this one, so at 30/1 is not bad each way

    Rose could do well

    Outsiders:

Brandt Snedeker is playing well and getting back to good golf after his injury

Jason Dufner has been in the top 10 at the US Open a few times

And most will also add Lowry and how about Thorbjorn Oleson..125/1?

Went for Rose to win EW and also him as the first round leader.
Think I've a better chance with my special, highest score of 94 or higher and a playoff, tenner on at 100/1

Scott Gregory giving you a good run for your money on first part of that. +24 sounds just a tad high in fairness even for some of the amateurs

I agree but the way I looked at it there are more amateurs in the field this week since 1962 and 25mph winds this afternoon so went for it, doesn’t look likely now mind :(

McIlroy is 10/1 against Rose today. Had an awful round yesterday but I wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce back today and 10/1 is a good price.
