I fancy James Hahn this week at 200/1 - has won on the pga tour before

    Sony Open

Gone for 5 each way in this.. They might be bigger elsewhere, but Boyle's going 10 places 1/5 odds

    Sungjae Im 12/1 , Hideki Matsuyama 12/1 , Kevin Na 22/1 , Billy Horschel 30/1 , Jason Kokrak 33/1

Be a sad state of affairs if I've no one to root for come Sunday!

I’ve gone Cammie Smith to go back to back in Hawaii . His price is smaller than last week but the field is weaker

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 GymTanLaundry

Late to the party here: 3 main bets this week were Kevin Na, Hideki and Kizzire (80/1) ‐ hopeful someone will be thereabouts on Sunday night. Hawaii isn't great for the evening watch of a Sunday

Couldn't resist taking the juicy 40/1 on Simpson today. Furyk at 25/1 also backed today.

Nice1 on Hideki, I fell asleep at the turn and he looked well beaten. 5 behind, he showed serious cajones to turn round the deficit. Some of the shots he played to get the win were incredible. Proper iceman under pressure, read somewhere that he classed the pressure greater on the home win in the zozo over the masters 1. Either way he knows how to get a job done. Very impressive win from him.

Cheers, nice to start the year 1 for 1. Hopefully the rest of the year will be as fruitful.

Not a fan of the set up in America this week so picked out a few huge prices for small stakes for an interest.

    8 places

    Brandon Wu 300/1

    Grillo 125/1

    Norlander 150/1

    Nesmith 250/1

    Whaley schenk kizzire for me

Like Cantlay pick this week. Short enough price for the big field. Ancer and zalatoris for each way chances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭billy3sheets

Seamus Power and Wolff for top 5 at around 7/1.

Was going to mention that I collected on Seamus last week for top 5 at around 10/1 but people get bothered if you tell after you've won.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 GymTanLaundry

Ancer, Finau and Ghim this week for me on PGA. All each way.

    Pebble beach pro am

Liking the 3 Brian Harman, Stewert Cink and Joel Dahman round this stunning course.

Harman is in great form coming into this. Impressive display in la Jolla for the American express. He also has form around pebble beach, only a bad final round last time out cost him getting top 10 at least

Cink just loves links and his form hasn't been too shabby since the turn of the year.

Dahman solely for the time he won, I specifically remember his hat blowing off cos the weather was that whacky so it's a punt but reckon the conditions will suit him

Should be a good few days and loads of cool holes with loads of drama

Have power at 25/1 for pebble.

Also have him to win majors this year. Based on his performances in last 6 months he's literally first page of EVERY leaderboard EVERY outing and his odds have steadily decreased as time goes on. Soon he's not going to be good value any longer!

Also have Leona to win this weekend and put a longer term top money earner in lpga this year.

Disappointed Seamus dropped off in the end. But a big win in on Leona 😝

Yeah the pressure of been 6 shots ahead at one stage was too much for Seamus. He'll come on for the experience of doing it at pebble beach too. Disappointing that he couldnt manage the win on the weekend that was in it with Leona winning. Just looking forward to him going round Augusta now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 868 ✭✭✭amlinopta

A nice stress free winner with Leona, well done. What price was she to win?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,974 ✭✭✭RoadRunner

40/1. I doubt we'll see her that far out again 😆

Anyone catching the eye in phoenix this week? Xander schaufele, schefler and Sam burns are my early picks. Still undecided punts. Going for 3 in a row after Zalatoris and Dahman in last 2 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,749 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

Power is 50/1 on bet 365

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Initially before looking at stats my favourites were Rahm, Matsuyama and Spieth.

My top 10 on stats are Rahm, Fitzpatrick, Matsuyama, Henley, Thomas, Hoge, Bradley, Berger, Merritt and Oosthuizen in that order.

The stats I looked at were SG Tee to Green, SG Approach, Proximity to hole, Putting on Bermuda Greens, Course form and current form.

There is nobody in there who played in Saudi last week and I say that because the history over the last couple of years from people coming back from Saudi is not good. I would be ruling out anybody who played in the Saudi International last weekend due to jet lag.

Rahm obviously is favourite and it speaks for itself and he is contending every time he tees it up this year. Matsuyama is in the form of his life and loves this place, Justin Thomas has a decent record here and, along with Rahm, is a top putter on Bermuda Greens.

So who do we rule out. The first one I'll rule out is Hoge, he finished tied 4th in RSM classic, missed the cut in Hawaii, then finished second in the Amex before missing the cut at the Farmer's and then winning last week. So based on that I'm thinking he'll struggle again this week after a win. His record here is poor too with 2 missed cuts and a best performance of tied 25th in four outings.

Next one is Daniel Berger who took last week off with a back injury, he's been struggling with it for a couple of weeks and played through the pain that was evident all through the Farmer's before taking last week off because of it. I just can't trust that he's ready to go this week.

I'll rule out Troy Merritt too as he has three missed cuts and a best ever finsih of tied 24th through five outings on this track.

That leaves me with Rahm, Fitzpatrick, Matsuyama, Henley, Thomas, Bradley, and Oosthuizen.

I'm going to go without the top five in the betting and backing Fitzpatrick, Henley, Bradley and Oosthuizen. Fitzpatrick was tied 6th last week in his first outing of the year so comes in here fresh and in good form with the stats to back it up. Henley's two outings this year were 2nd at the Sony and tied 14th at the Amex and he hasn't played since. Henley's record isn't great here but he has two top 20's in the last four years. Bradley was tied 12th at the Sony and then made the cut but finished at the back of the field Farmer's. He hasn't a great record here but has recorded plenty of top 20's. Finally Louis is a guy who plays well fresh and he's only played here twice with the results of finishing 3rd in 2017 and tied 11th last year.

A guy appearing up there just outside the top ten on stats is Austin Eckroat, he's well up in sg tee to green and no.1 in proximity to hole. He's a huge price so I'm going to have a small bet on him too.

The one guy who doesn't make the top 25 on stats who I am finding it hard to get away from is Jordan Spieth because he played so well last week and he just has this consistency about him when he hits form. I may yet put something on him to win it.

The other15 players in my top 25 were, Pereira, Conners, Knox, Laird, Gooch, Burns, Finau, Eckroat, Hadwin, List, Dahmen, Moore, Reavie, Grillo and Kirk.

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭CSWS101

+1 on Eckroat, he has good underlying stats. Have Knox T40 & Mitchell T20. Then went for Scheffler & Wise ew

Fitzpatrick made a hole-in-one in a practice round, maybe peaking too early!

Adding 2 outsider punts of Tricky Ricky Fowler cos he's a course specialist and Harman just cos his form was better than his finishing position at pebble. Schaufele, Schefler and My strongest fancy of Burns for the win

A hungry Power @50/1 represents value so I've gone with him e/w.

Crikey, that was a great 6 hours. Great putt by Scottie too hottie to win and break his duck. 3 in a row. Never in doubt🤭

  • Registered Users Posts: 936 ✭✭✭Salvation Tambourine

I've gone each way Patrick Cantlay for the Masters at 20/1.

I haven't much technical knowledge of golf but the man is consistently finishing high up in the leader board. Personally I don't enjoy watching him and usually don't want him to win but there is something so clinical about him (apart from the obvious stutters in the last couple of tournaments at the end).

Not a bad shout at all, he's been arguably the best player on tour in 2022 and has previous good form at Augusta, wasn't far off in 2019 if I recall correctly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Looking at the Genesis I'm going with Hovland, Zalatoris, Homa, Watson and Molinari.

Hovland finished tied fifth on his debut last year and has three wins in his last six events.

Zalatoris comes in with three top tens, including losing a playoff at the Farmer's and finished fifteenth on his debut last year.

Homa won it last year coming into the tournament in similar form.

Bubba loves the place, has won it three times. He took a long time off and worked on his game. His first tournament since August was the Saudi International where he finished second and then tied 14th in the Phoenix Open the weekend despite suffering from jet lag.

Molinari is a member in Riviera since he moved to the US. He was completely out of form last year and still managed a tied 8th. He was 6th in the Amex and has made the cut in his two events since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Scheffler with a win behind him now and having played the course twice now, two top 20's, is who I'm looking at.

    Genesis picks

Rahmbo is my main pick as he's the best competitor on tour. felt he was very unlucky with the putter last week and still seems to be capable of making up strokes heading in last few holes wherever he's playing.

Molinari and Adam Scott. Molinari showing some nice form coming into this and I taught Scott showed glimpses of a return to form last week.

    outsider pick Beau Hossler

just like the name and the way he stuck out with some eye catching well played holes at pebble beach. he also wears a sun visor and that's kinda zero fuks given cool. so he ticks all my punt boxes

    C. Bezuidenhout is my 2nd punt cos I wanted to try spell his name and he rarely misses a cut. Should at least give a small chance come Sunday

I'd be steering clear of rory tomoro. have a sneaky he doesn't make the cut. Morikawa could be a big danger to Rahmbo but u can't pick them all

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 GymTanLaundry

Main bets this week at Genesis. All each way.

Couldn't stay away from Rory at 20/1. Matsuyama (20/1) has been playing well recently and has been there or thereabouts at Riviera in the past. Thomas Pieters (60/1) is another one that has a chance, won his NCAA champs there and again previous good performances here.

Small bets on Noren and MW Lee too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭OwlsZat

I'm going Cantlay, Zalatoris, Rahm. I'd fancy Rors too but only if there was an after R3 bet 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭CSWS101

Burns, Bubba, Noren ew for myself

    Gooch T20 & Ortiz T40

I am on power again . Missed cut last week but a lot of top tens before this . Hoping the extra 2 days off has helped him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭The real mccoy 91

5 going for me this week 5 places all Ew

    Cam Smith 25

    Zalatoris 35

    Fitzy 40

    Niemann 60

    Molinari 175

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭CSWS101

    Fitzy just WD

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,974 ✭✭✭RoadRunner

Power & Sahith Theegala both each way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

It's crazy the links between this tournament and the Masters and with left handers.

Weir won this event and the Masters in the same year, Bubba did that double twice. Mickelson has won it a couple of times too.

There's been other Masters winners who won this too.

All I'm saying is if a left hander wins this week get straight on him for the Masters.

Nice Niemann pick. I missed his form coming into the genesis sadly, cos it was very good in hindsight. He was so good on his approaches all weekend. Worthy winner, so aggressive, think he laid off a little for 1st 7 or 8 holes on the final day but something clicked with him and he reverted back to his natural game. Birdies and and an eagle started dropping again. Paid off for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭The real mccoy 91

Still some 50/1 knocking about in a couple of places for the masters. His record isn't great but it still seems on the high side. Happy to reinvest some of the winnings after watching him play so well this week. Also think its go time on koepka so taking a bit of the 18/1 for Augusta the way he putted last week stuck with me and with a bit of fine tuning in the coming weeks I don't understand why he is a bigger price than Rory or Bryson. Hovland the last masters play I've done for today 2 years experience of the track now but his game is on a different level this year he had another top 5 this week without playing particularly well. 22/1..

Haven't looked through the field for the Honda yet will post a few picks tomorrow.

The fact Hovland has sorted his short game out makes him my pick for Augusta. Such an all rounder now. Scheffler with his first win behind him and savage short game he has to be in with a shout too. Steering clear of Koepka for the year. As much as I know how dangerous he is in majors he seems to be fighting a few demons in his game, they seem pop up over 4 days lately that have the ability to cost him the win. Zalatoris is my final pick for a major this year. I think he'll come on for been pipped in the playoff at the farmers. Has the game for Augusta as he's proved

    Honda Classic picks

This one's always a hard one to pick the winner. It's a tough course, where the winner requires a bit of luck from the golfing god's to land it

    Strongest

Brian Harman, been following for a few tournaments, has a real fight in him when in the mix. Might need it round here. In good form coming in here. Had last week off too.

    sam ryder

    &

    lucas glover

Both have a small bit of form on the course.

2 young bucks that are capable of anything. Might be their weekend to explode

    Matthew wolff and Garrick higgo

    Outsider punt

    ryan palmer

Form really goes out the window round here so throw a dart blindfolded at the player list if all else fails. That's where this one came from.
