Pre-drink Drinks

Where would people recommend for "pre drinks"? Somewhere you can properly socialise and chat to each other at the start of the night before moving on. Nowhere that's going to be absolutely wedged by 9 o clock on a Friday night!

Expensive, but the Cellar Bar in the Merrion hotel is usually not wedged. However, you might have to look at some government ministers.

A mate actually suggested Pygmalion. Haven't been there in a couple of years but from what I remember it's a pretty good spot. Does anyone know if the place gets busy early on a Friday?
