    Gardaí investigate after body found on road in Ennis late last night


    Gardaí are investigating after a man was apparently knocked down by a car in Ennis, Co Clare. He was later declared dead.


    Gardaí were last night investigating a suspected hit and run in Ennis, Co Clare.
    The body of a man in his 20s was discovered just after 11pm on the Limerick Road near St Flannan’s College just outside the town.
    A local doctor was called to the scene but the man was declared dead at about 11.30pm.
    His body remained at the scene for the State pathologist to carry out an examination.
    Forensics teams also carried out a preliminary examination of the area – but a Garda spokesman said much of this work is expected to take place this morning.
    Traffic diversions remained in place on both sides of the road late last night.
