Blotchy skin after tanning

Just wondering, does anyone else get this horrible leopard-like stain on their skin that shows up ten times worse after self-tanning in areas where skin meets skin (underarms, inner thighs, back of knees)? I use a good quality exfoliator 2-3 times a week, and often moisturize, but it still shows up. :(

Has anyone got a clue what this is any why I have it? And is there any way to get rid of it? I'm not really a fan of the 'patchy leopard look'. :(

I've never seen that, tbh. It looks like you might have micro-pigmentation in those areas and the tan is just really showing it up. If that's the case, I'm not really sure there's a whole lot you can do about it. Have you tried changing your tan? Different formulas may not show it up as much.

I don't normally wear tan, but I've tried so many types, the one in the picture is actually a spray tan! It's only been happening the past 2 years or so, though.
