I don't know what game you were watching but Frawley and O'Brien shared the out of hand kicking and Wallace took all the place kicks.

Maybe I just have an untrained eye but that looks like an enormous step down from the Leinster schools team of last year, is this a bad group or was last year just exceptional?

Last years team was exceptional. I like the look of this years team. Some good performers there. I was impressed with them last week v the Youths, particularly in the first half.

People will always try compare last year but its pointless. Last year were an exceptional group and no point in comparing sides each year.
No way at all that this or any year group are a "bad group".

Oh dear one. Would that have anything to do with the fact that there is only 1 Rock boy on this years team. And 4 from Michaels.Maybe not enough familiar names.Judge by results and wait for the next 3weeks.

There is 5 from the clubs game(Vallejo, Joyce Ahearne, Walshe, Oliver and Nolan) with Carbery very recently as he was a youths player last year and Cleary was a youths player and moved to clongowes last september

Leinster Youths beat Michaels 24-13 this morning

Was it a full match or one of those 3 20 minutes games?

Either way good result for the Youths, though I'm guessing this was probably Michael's first run out and presumably they had no interpros.

Will be interesting to see how the youths go vs Mary's on Wenesday.

Michael's missing their interpros but also a a very different looking Youhs side. A few guys there we haven't seen before.

Wasn't there but I am positive it was a full match and yes Michaels did not have any of their under 18 schools or under 19 representatives playing.
    Good result for the Youths

    Leinster 19s 21 - 7 Connacht 19s

Not a great game, both sides made a lot of mistakes with ball in hand (conditions were poor).
Carburry, Roche and Vallejo were very good and Fergal Clearly was the best player on the pitch by a mile, he was a class above everybody else. Very dissapointed with Connacht

Not the greatest of games no, but not "disappointed" in Connacht. They were right in it at half time 11-7 and had their periods of domination in the second half. Indeed they looked to have gotten over the line only for ref to say it was held up (which the Connacht boys dispute) but they got on with it. Leinster were the better team no doubt, scored a try on the break with a fairly fortunate bounch of the ball in the second half. They deserve to win, but with all the star school performers in the team, to be honest I expected more from Leinster. Cleary is a good player but tries to do too much himself, he went for too many cross field kicks in the scoring zone, none of which came off. Leinster should have won by more.

Vallejo's try was from a kick from Cleary.
While Carburry was good at 9 this team would be a lot better with Rock or McCarthy there.
I should have said i was dissappointed with Leinster too. Ross Bailey Kearney from Kilkenny College played well when he came on for Connacht

Fair comments. The try was from a clearance kick tho, when Connacht were putting the pressure on, it was a good kick, but the bounce was favourable! I was referring To the cross field kicks he kept trying when in the Connacht 22. Cleary is a good player but made look better by fairly average players around him. I just expected more from Leinster. They have moved a lot of good lads up to the 20's in fairness. Carberry was ok, good hands. Although for his movement, speed and the fact that he was getting his hands on the ball quite a lot, Cleary looked the best player, I did not think that there was any truly outstanding player. Not meant as a criticism. Connacht were closer to Leinster than I expected to be honest.

Was at the Connacht, Leinster 19s game yesterday.. Was rather dissapointed with the overall standard of the game, expected more from both sides especially Leinster. Cleary however was a strong player however very greedy. Connacht lacked in the pack, especially in the second row, exile prop Cian Roman was for some reason playing as a lock. However he was not the only dissapointing one.. Hope to see some improvements next week

How did the Rock CBC match go?

CBC beat Rock 17 - 15. Heard that there were a large enough number of 4th years playing on the Rock team which struck me as somewhat strange...although I suppose they haven't got their Leinster players back yet

Would depend on team Youths had out as well. may not been full strength for a game in middle of week in Dublin with players having school. Also may not have been first strength youth side with management looking at other players ahead of interpros in 2 weeks time.

Would large number of 4th years really be a big deal. Blackrock won the junior cup last year so those in 4th year are strong and the interpros are on so quite a few 5th/6th years are unavailable. It also is barely the second week in September. Lots of players being looked at for the 1st XV

It wouldn't be strange to maybe see one or two 4th years playing for the SCT, but anything above that would be notable.

Theyre all kids. Theyre all inexperienced......
Blackrock won junior cup last year so theyre 4th years are strong and its very early in the year. 1st/2nd game of year with players missing due to provincial call ups.

That's a very black and white outlook. The gap between a 4th year and a 6th year is usually quite large.

But 4th years who were champions at junior level last year and would be quite strong. Yes I know the difference between 4th year and 6th year is considerable. many 4th years are only about 15 maybe 16 years of age while 6th years are generally 18 or nearly 18 and the difference is huge everywhere with the amount of work done by the students in older years making huge differences
