Went into Halfords for a hydraulic jack, about to buy one for 36.99, then looked to the right and they had a whole set including said jack for just a bit over €40, girl at the till didnt believe me as it was coming up on her system at 74.99:eek: I had to call a manager to show him the sign, he took the sign to the till and threw it in the bin but gave it to me at that price.

Driving home from Donegal today and passed some DB9's and The Dukes of Hazard car, some sweet motors up there, 4.5 hours drive from Kilkenny to Letterkenny. I took the scenic route home and passed through Navan, saw some interesting cars there ;)

And an average of 10% savings over what they would spend otherwise.
Our meters allow you to see exactly what and where you're spending and unlike other companies that just give an estimate.

Does this count as shilling? I haven't mention who it's for. :p

@jou: I'm not sure what to do with that. :o

One of the nicer shapes of Civic too. Wonder if the DL reg is putting people off? At the same time, I guess demand for those Civics probably isn't what it used to be too.

unknown right now. Could be €200 a day or nothing at all. depends on cars and customers that want it done.

could be great or could be a flop but dunno.

would rather do it than nct but if I gave up nct I can't go back to it really :/

Doubt its worth it. Depends on the business, but i'd imagine its very hit and miss. Unless its a big well grounded company, then no. I'd imagine the work is very seasonal too, so you'd get good business from now 'til September, but after that i'd say it dies.

I know what you mean, my jobs the same. If I'm in an area where the majority of people already have the product then I could get €18 a day but in a fresh spot I could be making over €100 easy.

Do you still have the other jobs on the side or is it just the NCT right now?

I did it for 6 months, there are plenty people making a living out of it but if you're starting from scratch you can expect to be pretty slow for awhile.

Is it a Dealership that have left their valetor go and just want out source their valeting without directly hiring someone?

Self employed isn't all it's cracked up to be.

just nct. I have 2 days in dominos next week after being off for a month... just keeping it there just in case

its for a garage very similar to advanced pitstop but in drumcondra *cough*

it is risky and it does seem like a season thing... ive being offered to do it on Saturdays as a trial thing for the moment to see jow it turns out with all the equipment and supplies supplied to me for free so I dunno.

I used to do a full valet for €80, depending on how dirty the car was it would take 3-4hours.

And then there are so many other -'s after that!

the owner wouldnt be arsed do a full one going around with tooth brushes but more mini ones with wash hoover wax and other bits

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,724 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Might be worth giving it a go on Saturdy to see how it goes, if you're getting the money for it it's worth a shot to see how you like it at least. I would anyway.

Forgot to pay my toll yesterday, just put it on there expecting a penalty but I seem to have dodged it. :D

Well that's where the money is really. If you could get 30 quid a pop for those you'd be flying it.

More than likely that's a post 166man linked to.

And you got "page not found" probably because you have custom posts per page setup (I guess more than 15). :)

My friend was looking at a 04 M3 expensive but quiet clean

Expensive but worth it. It's in fantastic condition, low miles and only 1 owner ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,668 ✭✭✭eringobragh

...all these recent preventative maintenance buys I've jumped onboard and ordered 4 quarts of Redline MT-90 gearbox oil for the MR2, it's probably never been changed and at 114,000mls probably no harm to change it at least once.

I've rear pads need fitting tomorrow and going to flush the brake fluid and stick DOT 5.1 into it while I'm at it....then another engine oil change (3rd since I've got it) and fluids are all up to date

    Have you seen it Dave?
I was impressed with it, looked great and the inside was like new. I'm going to try and get him to buy it.
Even though its expensive will it keep a decent value in years to come if he keeps down the miles and keeps any marks off it?

**** sake, emptied all the oil out of the car for oil change, took out filter and got new one and noticed the new one is slight shorter and has a raised lip on the inside of it whereas the old one didn't. A google suggests it is the right filter for my car though?! It's a mahle ox154/1d .
Seems like there's 2 different types of oil filters for the same engine?

I went on their website after I read your post and saw it there. It's actually cheap for what it is but yeah, it will hold its value fairly well even if the miles are put up a good bit. There's 2006 E46 M3s with more than double that milage going for the same price.

If everything checks out on it then I wouldn't hold back if I was your mate.

Well em, the oil filter does have oil on it?:)
Can't see the make or anything anymore. Guess I'll just park it up and get another one in the morning.
Was able to change the oil without jacking up the car n all which is no mean feat on the m54! :D
