Said company rang me yesterday saying the position (part time) is not available anymore as they are not taking on part-time staff. I'm fuming as I've turned down interviews…

Hi all

Said company rang me yesterday saying the position (part time) is not available anymore as they are not taking on part-time staff. I'm fuming as I've turned down interviews as I believed 'my 'job' was safe.
Can I take them to the employment tribunal? I read somewhere that once the conditions of the contract were met which they were (reference checks, and satisfactory completion of the company's pre-employment screening questionnaire), that this is a breach of contract?
I have not signed anything retracting my contract and they are trying to fob me off with 1 weeks wages.
Have I got a case?
