Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just a couple of questions about being stopped by the Gardai

Just curious about some legalities when it comes to Gardai stopping you in public.

If a Garda stops you, and tells you it's just a 'random stop' do you have to give him your name and address or let him search your persons or a bag you have on you?

Are you legally allowed to record (Video and audio) the stop, including the Garda's face? Reason I ask this is because I myself, and friends have been stopped by Gardai who have been threatening.

    A "random search"? No.

You can ask them if they mind being recorded.

Your attitude would imply that you do have something to hide, best recomodations are to smile, cooperate and be courteous

ianal and I'm not looking to make a point or have an argument but I am really interested in why I would have to ask them if they mind being record and what happens if they say no ?

If I have to ask to record them do they have to do the same to record me?

What about RTE filming people in the street or I record someone breaking the law without asking their permission ?
