Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    All games KO at 4:00

    Chelsea v Everton
    Liverpool v QPR
    Man City v Norwich
    Newcastle v Arsenal - SS1
    Southampton v Stoke
    Swansea v Fulham
    Tottenham v Sunderland - SS2
WBA V Man Utd - Setanta Ireland
    West Ham v Reading
    Wigan v Aston Villa

I was hoping that the relegation battle would still be going, but its all eyes on the Arsenal and Spurs games, and kind of the Chelsea game. Wouldn't mind seeing that playoff for 3rd place.

Ya it's not really the same if the relagation battle doesn't go to the wire. Still, I hope the Gunners dash any hopes Spurs might have of getting a CL spot.

You can pick them up from the same places that have them every week.

    C'mon Newcastle.

A real damp squid of a match day, still maybe Everton or Newcastle can create some last moment hilarity.

BBC2 has an extended final score from 4.05 which is basically Soccer Saturday on free to air! (hopefully not with Garth Crookes and Mark Laurenson).

Only one spot of importance to play for so it's just going to be a circle jerk for retiring players.

    Meh

They should put it back on a Saturday, can't stand this Premier League commercialising and ruining football

Wonder if Rodger's will open the envelopes today.

No Rooney in the United squad, paternity leave apparently as opposed to permanently leave.

F365 reporting that Mike Ashley has offered up a £1m bonus to be shared between Newcastle's non-football staff if they beat Arsenal today.

Hoping we can put the final nail in Reading's coffin today. There'd be something seriously wrong with a lot of our players if they can't put in a performance against them given what happened in both games last season.
Rather hilariously, Reading fans have tried to organise a "boycott" of the Boleyn for this game, citing the price is too high (which, to be fair, it is). However, you can guarantee that if both teams' roles were reversed, Reading would sell out their allocation just to stick the boot in. They seem more than happy to do this yet when they can't take it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Could see final appearances in a West Ham shirt for some of our players today (Carroll, Cole, Taylor etc.)

I think Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea will all win making it a pretty boring last day.

Hopefully it's the last I see of about five or six players in a Sunderland shirt today anyway!

Already got my omelette recipe sorted, just thought Spurs would need a reliable one for Lasagne.

Hmmm, I'm caught in two minds really.

On one hand we'll hopefully buy another winger to improve and McClean will then be a unanimous back-up, if that happens I'm not sure he's worth the off-the- pitch hassle, but on the other hand he's a good player to have in the squad especially against the bigger teams due to the defensive work that he does.

I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if he never played for us again, providing we bought another winger.

Basically, there's no love lost between ourselves and Reading after goings on in the two games in the championship last season (that'll take too long to explain). Throughout the second half of last season Reading fans took great pleasure in sticking the boot into us because of these games. Before the start of this season they were claiming we'd be relegated and some even proclaiming they would make it into Europe.
Now that they're relegated, they don't want to travel to the final game of the season at Upton Park simply because they know West Ham fans will gladly take the piss out of them for the entire game. They're using the price of the game as an excuse not to travel (even though they charged West Ham fans a similar amount for the reverse fixture in December).

tl;dr? I don't like Reading or their fans.

That was a shocking decision. The ref was jogging around the halfway line when it happened.

If Bale didn't have a reputation they'd probably have a few. There's no agenda, he's just gotten himself associated with diving, which he does

Have you seen the decision? Incompetent is being way too kind. Just had another hand ball in the box.. Hand to ball not given

Haven't seen a team play as badly this season as WBA against United today. Definition of on the beach already

So then all three in the 3/4/5th place saga level at HT.

Hand ball couldn't be given I think it was too close and if his hand wasn't there it would of hit the side of his chest.

The earlier penalty call though should have seen larsson off as well as the penalty.

Mariner is really bad though as a ref certainly he seems to have nightmares in every Spurs game I have ever seen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Clear as day penalty for Tottenham, I can't believe the ref didn't give it.

Wigan 2-1 up on Villa, they must be kicking themselves at losing that home game to Swansea when 2-1 up the other week.

Carroll is absolutely destroying Reading. We simply have to keep him. Second goal was a delight to watch

Spurs should have had another penalty there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,923 ✭✭✭Playboy

Haha this is just ridiculous in the spurs game now. Sunderland player dives towards the ball with his hands out in full view of te ref and still no pen. Now that Arse have scored maybe some decisions will go our way

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

For Christ sake! All over them in the first half and should be 4 or 5 up at half time but go in 2-0 up. 10 minutes into the second half it's 2-2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,905 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Rodders with a superb second

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,923 ✭✭✭Playboy

Edit: Spurs haven't had a penalty home or away all season and its been about 2 years since Spurs had a penalty last in the PL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Goals flying in all over the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,905 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

City's defence on holiday, Howson just ran from his own half and scored.

    Could end 5-5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

Did Spurs fans think Newcastle had scored? Turned it on and they were all cheering

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

According to the BBC they did :pac:

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Hattrick for Nolan! Bar the first 20 minutes of the second half, it's been a wonderful performance.
I'd be surprised if Reading come straight back up even if they keep most of the players they have at the moment. They are woeful.
