Hi there - does anyone know what the big house on the left as you leave RAthcormac at the turnoff to Tallow is - the one with the horses and the very long drive up to the house - who lives there - what's it called? What's its significance to the area

On a sidenote,Hugo's wife Elaine is a sister to the actress Alison Doody who was a Bond girl in A View to a Kill and also starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.See here.

Thank you - is it something to do with Lady Fermoy now you mention Princess Diana. I know lady Fermoy was the queens lady in waiting and was also some relation of The Spenser perhaps aunt or grand-aunt?

I visited this house a few years ago with a tour group - Hugo Merry gave a very interesting talk about the house, and there is some amazing plasterwork to be seen there. The pavilions (with the domes) were being renovated at the time. Davis Duckart I think was the architect of the house, he also designed the Customs House (now the Hunt Museum) in Limerick. Well worth a visit!

I worked there for several years during school and college holidays. Interesting spot with interesting history!
