Does anyone remember the story of the Irish bishop who had a relationship with a lady, possibly called Annie? I think they had a son. I'm curious as to how things turned out for them.

Unsure what forum to post this in!

I created the lmgtfy search by quoting selected words from the OP's post. You know, it really wasn't that hard after all...

    He has Alzheimers disease.

He is a man I have the utmost sympathy and respect for.

He did what comes natural to most of us, he developed feelings towards a member of the opposite sex and acted upon them, sadly he then tried to cover his actions by misusing church money which I believe was the actions of a scared, confused and paniced individual.

All of which are human failings.

That money was just resting in his account.

Ah yes I remember that case alright. When you think about it it was quite tame compared to the avalanche of kiddy fiddling that was exposed later on.

If he took some responsibility I would have respected him. He stole money and hid behind his collar and left his son fatherless, not worthy of much sympathy nor respect.

It's funny that powerful people have "human failings", while the poor and powerless are dirty sinners who will burn for all eternity in Hell
