Hop up adjustment on an aeg colt m4 ?

    What exactly does adjusting the hop up acutally do ?

    Puts a spin on a bb to make it go further, ie it deflects the trajectory of the bb upward (how much depends on how much you turn the hop up dial). Too much hop up and it'll head skywards, too little or none at all and the bb will fall short. It's all trial and error to get the "sweet spot" and the maximum range on your shots. Of course, a tight bore barrel, good hop up rubber, good seals, good motor etc etc all help with range!

    I've noticed that the shot from my newly bought colt m4 aeg drops off a little short .

    Go on and turn the hop further up a little bit at a time until you get max range without the bb heading skywards. However don't be expecting miracles as the range on most aegs is 40-50 metres at best.
