Weekly Football game (CANCELED!!!!!)

Just on the list thing, I think the current system isn't bad, though I can see why it may not favour some people and it is a bit random. Putting a set time on when the list will be activated each week and letting it be a first come, first serve thing I think would probably work best, as long as the time is a reasonable one. I don't think it's a huge issue, generally I don't think we've had very many at all miss out on games through the list, and it's worked well because when we've had players drop out through injury we've had at least 1 in reserve (for example Gil is now in, if he accepts, as a confirmed player has had to drop out)

In terms of ideas for picking teams, that don't involve a hat, I'm sure we can think of something that will divide teams a little more evenly than last week, admittedly I was in favour of the odds and evens thing but, ye, that didn't work out at all so my bad. Like Buzzinfly said, if we can get a division of teams where there isn't one team stacked with defenders and another team stacked with attackers and we'd be grand. I don't think that'll happen if we pick teams out randomly so they will probably have to be chosen by one person, two captains or a group effort. Just think about it like this though, whatever method we use this week, assuming it's successful, we can keep using so we never have to think about ways of picking teams again. That's the goal.

With regards to the positions thing, we actually did that when we first organised a game through Boards. We just separated out into defenders, midfielders and forwards. In fairness, we were playing on a bigger pitch but that may not be a bad place to start. If people divided themselves into the position they think they are and we just split them evenly then we might not be too far off.

Right maybe let's try to make a run at this then before Wednesday. If we divide ourselves into forwards, midfielders and defenders then it should be much easier to pick two relatively evenly matched teams. So I'll begin.

Ye as far as I can tell that is the list as it stands. Hopefully Gil logs on and sees that he is now on the list, all he has to do is confirm. All that's left to do now is hopefully get the positions of 4 more players and try to pick two teams from there.
