The best thing would have to be that I don't have to carry around separate music player or camera when out and about.

Best thing is always being in touch with your family

the worst thing is: See above :P

The best thing about owning a smartphone is having everything in the same place! I sync all my Samsungs together and it's like one big Samsung family

The worst is when I dropped my S3 and now my screen is minced :( I could really do with a new one now

Best thing is that I can do anything on the go, bad thing is it then takes up all my time and hinders socialising

The best thing about owning a smart phone is calling it "stupid phone" when it's not working right/freezing/whatever. :pac:

The best thing about having a smartphone is multimedia, being able to listen, watch and enjoy so much content anywhere you are is a great feature, but also being able to share such content with anyone with the push of a button or in this case the screen.

the handy thing about smartphones is that they come with calendars , so you'd know when to finish up a competition :)

The best thing about Smart Phones is the full multimedia package they give you, I'd love to own one but unless i win this competition there's not much chance  :D

    Hi Everyone!

Well thank you so much for all the entries, we can see that there definitely seems to be a link between the pros and cons of our modern lifestyle.

Don't forget this is all to celebrate Climote and it's current reduced price of €269 which is available when you purchase one at our online store using the voucher code EI0105A - the RRP is €399 so that's €130 off! :)

We'll announce a winner shortly via random selection, so be sure to keep posted! :)

    Best of luck,

    Aoife

The best thing - The many multifunction's they have . Ie; Internet , emails , books , apps , texting , calling , music everything in one . It limits you to only having to have one device with you instead of multiple ones like camera , iPod ,phone , book etc.

The worst thing - The battery life is very short unfortunately so has to be charged regular and when dropped they don't always survive the fall . The good old reliable nokia always lasted through any fall and the battery never seemed to go  :)

The best thing about having a smart phone is that I am in a long distance relationship and it allows me  to communicate with my girlfriend when ever I need. I honestly think without all the benefits such as free video calls and texts from the various apps have played such a huge role in keeping us together for the last five years while we both complete university in Ireland and Brazil. On the other hand the bad points about having a smart phone are that my girlfriend can communicate with me when ever she wants :) Smart phones bring people closer together for this reason I would love to win a good one like the s4 so I can share even more

Best: They're capable of storing actually songs, not just polyphonic ringtones like my current beast of a phone!

Worst: You can easily end up spending way too much time on the toilet when in work.

The pro of a smart phone is my work collegues would stop harassing/taking the pee out of me for my normal Nokia phone :)

Best part is having the internet wherever you are to look up absolutely anything you need.

Worst part is charging the battery every night!

    Hi everyone,

When you consider that more than two-thirds of the Irish population own a smartphone of some kind, it’s safe to say they’re here to stay. The capabilities of these little (and big!) devices improve all the time, allowing us to automate aspects of our lives with ease. Climote is a case in point – an award-winning digital timeclock which pairs perfectly with a smartphone, allowing you to control your home heating from anywhere.

Until 31/05/13, you can get Climote at the reduced price of just €269 when you purchase one at our online store using the voucher code EI0105A - that's €130 off the RRP of €399!

And that’s not all of course: entering this month’s Boards competition will give you the chance to win either a HTC One or a Samsung Galaxy S4! The winner will have a choice between these two gorgeous smartphones, both ideal for running the latest and greatest apps, browsing the web, snapping pics, controlling your home heating , or, indeed, talking to friends and family (so long as they don’t interrupt your record-breaking game of Angry Birds).

To be in with a chance to win, just answer this question: What’s the best thing (and/or worst thing, if you must!) about owning a smartphone?

The competition runs until next Wednesday 29th May, and the winner will be chosen via random selection. The usual T&Cs apply.

    Best of luck!

    David
The best thing is that I can do everything with my phone that in the 90s I would have had to have separate more bulky items for, the bad thing is that when I lost my smartphone it felt like I had lost a limb as I couldn't call, text, fb, take photos of my son etc on the go or entertain him with baby jake on youtube. It was horrible.

The best thing for me is that my god daughter no longer cringes in shame like she always did every time I pulled out my Nokia from 2006 in public, lol....

The worst thing is realizing how old I am getting when it takes me months to learn how to master me own 'Smartphone' !

Worst thing is being contactable all the time through every electronic means possible!

Best thing about owning a smartphone is having what only a few years ago would have been a large collection or phone, gps and camera all in one. Constant connection to your friends, family and interests where ever you are at any time. It helps simplify the world around you with augmented reality, giving you more options in your day to day activities, the pinnacle of hardware and software achievements to make your life better.

The ability to submit your meter reading to Electric Ireland using the meter reading app, meaning no more estimated bills and much more control over your electricity charges, as well as the ability to register multiple addresses & get emergency ESB Networks contact details :)

Why are people still entering this competition? I thought it was over on Wednesday???

The best thing about owning a smartphone, which could probably also be argued as being one of the worst.. ;)

You no longer have any reason to be missing deadlines for assognments! As a recent example of when I used my smart phone in a truly smart manner - I submitted a college assignment from my phone while getting my hair cut! I had forgotten the deadline was due that day and if it wasn't for my phone notifying me (Another great advantage! Google Calendar is fantastic!) I would have completely forgotten. I suddenly had one hour left to submit my partially complete assignment so the pressure was on!

I didn't want to seem rude to the barber so I explained my situation and she sort of laughed and asked how I was going to do all of that from my phone. Well.. First off I needed to get the document from my account in college onto my phone which I completed through a file transfer app.. Second, I needed to complete the last section of the document and thankfully I also had an app for that.. So after quickly typing out the remaining paragraph or two I needed to submit it through an online submission portal..

If I didn't have my phone that day, I would have missed out on 20% towards my end of year grade. Saved my life it did! :)

The best thing is that I can no longer get lost wherever I am. The worst... is dropping your phone on your face in bed.

Boards on the go. Maps for when you're lost. Hailo for when you need a cab and you need it now. Google for when you need a phone number to book a hair appointment. Camera for those kodak moments.

They generally just make organising life on the go a little bit easier.

The positives far outweigh any negatives so we don't need to get into the worst things!
