    why do most schools in ireland have expensive school uniforms that are only sold in one shop ? when did this happen ? when I was in school we had generic uniforms.

    You get what you pay for.

    we have a jumper and skirt for nearly 3 years.
    The trousers purchased elsewhere don't last the year.

    A long long time ago... apart from really obscure uniforms, secondary schools started with school crests.

    The latest gimmick is school jackets... and during the colder months, these are the only ones your allowed to wear to keep warm during classes.
