    Hi,

just wondering is there any reasons stopping you from providing broadband via the powerlines to our homes. obvious problems are power cuts, passing through transformers and such, but you would surely be the number 1 provider in the Country if you did supply as there a little to no homes now that don't have an electrical supply.

    Thanks

One thing I can think of is that sending data via power lines produces massive amounts of electromagnetic interference. Even homeplug devices produce a lot of EMI. Just because it can be done, it doesn't mean there's no consequences in doing so.

    Hi Hallo dare,

Thank you for getting in contact with your query. The lines and posts are actually owned by ESB Networks not Electric Ireland. We are the supply company and do not own the infrastructure associated with the power supply. This is the property of ESB Networks.

I understand that they have contributed to the extension of nationwide broadband services over the last few years, but unfortunately we don't have any information on whether they will be entering the domestic broadband market in the future.

If you wish to make further enquiries to ESB Networks about this, their contact number is 1850 372 757.

    Regards,

    Aoife
