    Hi All.

I have HKC Securewatch system with RF contact on shed door and GSM dialler for texting alarm activation messages to my mobile.
This week the alarm refuses to arm.
Its displaying "panel batt flt" and "RF comms flt".
The system was upgraded two years ago.
Its hardly the backup battery? The RF contact in shed was fitted new two years ago as well.

    Any ideas gratefully received.
    I have the engineer code.

    Thanks

Are you sure it is a Securewatch?
    Securewave?

Sounds like a battery problem and the device isn't connecting to the panel properly. I would check the signal strength from the detector because if a detector isn't within range it will use more battery trying to ping the panel.

The battery in the sensor needs to be replaced.
The RF comms fault is because the battery is dead.
Panel battery fault is another issue which is the main battery in the control panel, it is a 12V 7 Amp battery.

Where is the control panel, not keypad located?

Thanks for the quick response lads.

Would I be right in thinking that the RF unit in shed is fitted with a lithium ion battery and should last for a few years?

Is replacement of the panel battery straightforward?

    Hi Altor.

Control panel is located in the hall beside fuse board.
What sort of battery is required for the sensor?
Local electrical wholesaler will prob know what I need?

The battery for the sensor is a CR123A.

To replace the control panel battery, turn off the mains, open control panel and swap out the battery. Make sure you connect the positive and negative correctly. Close up control panel and turn back on the mains. The alarm will indicate a tamper when you open the control panel. It will go off when the battery and mains are removed. Once powered back up you will be prompted to program the time and date. Job done.

    Hi redzer,

That is correct. You should of got longer out of the control panel battery.
5-7 years would be the norm. Thought it might be in the hot press as back up batteries don't last as long due to the heat in there.

Any of the suppliers here would have the replacement batteries in stock.

    I'll try Kellihers or Mainscourt.

5-7 years, is that not a bit generous? Average if about 3 years I would have thought.

Edit: Thought you were talking about the sensor battery.

Not for the back up battery :)
