ebook readers and no wifi

I'd love to have and e book reader but I don't have wi fi and I can't find out from product information whether there is an alternative way to download. I thought that you could download via a computer but is this always the case? Any advice or recommendations out there?

I have NBS satellite broadband - as far as I know neither 3 nor digiweb recommend using a router

This seems to be a format converter. What if I want to buy a kindle and download books from amazon but cannot do it wirelessly?

It's also a library manager. You can download the books to your PC from Amazon, then add the file to Calibre, and transfer it to the Kindle.

Actually, you don't need Calibre at all, you can just drag-and-drop the file into the Kindle, but Calibre is a lot nicer way of doing it, and has dozens of other features for managing your library

I suppose what I really want to ask is - will all ebook readers connect to a computer to download files or are there any that I should avoid?

I doubt there's any dedicated e-reader that relies solely on wireless connections. Certainly the Sony Reader connects to a PC anyway. You can use Adobe's Digital Editions to manage your library.
