Does anyone know whats involved in buying a piece of your neighbours side enterance?

We both have 4 1/2 foot and id like to take some of hers to give vehicle enterence to rear of house.

whats involved , how do you do it and value it ??

Is your neighbour ok with losing a foot or so of her property?
Do you both own your houses?

If there is a wall between the properties perhaps you could remove that and put a fence up instead, just a bit further onto her property?

I assume the houses are zoned by the council so moving the property line will be had to be run past them.

I can't speak from experience but you both should proceed with caution. There may be building regs that need observing and both parties must have clean title to their property when it's complete or selling will be impossible. Assuming it can be done the last thing you want is to go and build your garage or whatever and then for a future owner next door to claim the land back because it wasn't handled properly from a legal perspective, leaving you with a garage you can't access! Legal advice is not going to be avoidable and if the properties are mortgaged the bank may prevent any sale as would be their right.

You value it by agreeing a price.
